I’m new to tribe and I’m trying to get the word out about what’s going on now in New Orleans for Circus Arts. The scene revolves around the Whirly Bones Circus Collective. We have a large studio just outside the french quarter and we offer free skill shares in circus arts and aerial classes five days a week! We offer hooping, acro, conditioning, juggling, yoga and clown lab. For fifteen dollars a month (yes, I said fifteen dollars) members can train and teach in the space. Next month the collective is putting on a showcase which includes acro-balance, aerial, juggling and more. Aurora Aerial is also based out of the space and will be holding auditions for an autumn run of shows on September 1st. There is a new aerial yoga class at Swan River Yoga Shala uptown as well. To learn more, visit our myspace at www.myspace.com/whirlybones or www.myspace.com/ravenhinojosa. Come check out or join our growing circus scene!

Re: update on new orleans circus scene
Mon, June 2, 2008 - 1:33 AMI just wanted to add my personal recommendation to any activities Raven is holding. She is a extremely talented and seasoned performer and thoroughly non-flaky. These are dirt cheap prices worth full on moving your ass to beloved NOLA for a while if you want to dedicate yourself to learning or honing your skills. I'm tempted!
