    Ahem.

<Ron Dellums, Oakland's part-time mayor, is demanding "a substantial pay raise," according to the Chron. Columnist Chip Johnson buried this mini-bombshell in today's column. It's not clear who Johnson's source is. He doesn't cite one. >

Chip Johnson is a corporate asswipe. Now Dellums certainly has problems, but the fact is that the Chron has been gunning for him ever since he beat their boy Del Fuente.

Johnson lost anything resembling credibility back in February of 08 when he attacked Dellums for being at federal appropriation hearings in DC while murders were occrurring in Oakland. I'm sorry, what the fuck was Dellums supposed to be doing, cruising around in the Dellumsmobile fighting crime with his Dellums Utility Belt?

I've been sorry to see the Express joining in on the sniping the last few months. Fuck, quoting Chip Johnson? How about doiing some actual reporting, guys?

How about Dellums doing some actual work?!

(And for me, anyway, I do appreciate hearing potential conflicts of interest in media...so thanks for that.)

dellums has some balls on him to ask for a raise, after mandatory furloughs, layoffs of staff, cutting of services, a decline in perceived and actual safety. Fuck him.

Chip johnson is not the corporate asswipe you make him out to be.

Kelly- tell us what goodness Dellums has done for oakland in the past 3 years?

I voted for the guy, and it was a totalyl wasted vote. not that we had much of a choice- de la fuente had his own issues.
