Coming out of a recent break-up myself, I can relate. My recent ex got so close, but there were a couple of hurdles of logic and reason that I just couldn't get her over. I'm not totally blaming her mind you, in fact I take most of the blame myself for things falling apart. I kept trying to slide into her shoes to get a better idea how to relate well with her, and upon doing so I would end up getting resentful and it would show through my behavior.
Go figure, she was the more emotional and I was the ever rational - as if that's never happened before! But alas, I haven't given up hope. My rational mind is seeing more and more of things I was willing to overlook about the realities of the situation - again not an assignment of fault, simply a recognition of fact. But that still doesn't curb some of the restlessness of sleep and other anxieties creeping in to make me restless. (i.e. stuff like "OK, she didn't think enough like me - now how the hell do you find someone that does?" and of course the continual examination of the things you did or did not do wrong in the whole process and how to avoid the former and encourage the latter 'next time')
