CHICKEN POX party anyone?

topic posted Tue, September 18, 2007 - 5:48 PM by  Siobhan
Hey y'all....

my girls are now 3 and 7, and I haven't heard of anyone in their schools (smaller schools--they're montessori) having chicken pox.... have any of your kids had it? I know it may sound crazy to some of you, but I'd really like my kids to get it before they're 10 or so. I really don't want to have to vaccinate them for it, but if they don't have it by 10 or 11, I feel I might have to.

I'd love to keep in touch about this, if any of our children get it....

(note: my spelling sucks and spell check can't keep up with me . and I have been awake for like 20 hours and am way too lazy go to too much effort. sorry)

most kids are vacanated aginst chicken pox these days. it is madatory they get vacanated to go to school. it usually happens during the toddler years if i remember right.
Now the medical commmunity is telling us our kids need a second vacation when they are 6 years old. the last time i tock Liberty, my daughter (age 7), to the dr. he said it was past time for the new CP shot. I asked questions- like why are we vacanationg aginst somthing that is not that bad when you get it as a kid. He told me that it is the only vacatation for purly $$ reasons: too many parents miss work to take care of their sick kids when the get CP and that the vacation was eazy and cheep to make. I asked how bad would it be if we did not vacanate Liberty, and he told me he choise not to give his 3 kids (age 6 to 10) the up dated shot. To me that says something. He also told me that the only reasons he had them get the first shot was because CP as a baby or todler is bad and because of the school thing!! Otherwise, he would rather they get CP and get it over with now not as adults (he has boys- if a man gets CP they risk being unable to father kids)

dorit, it's actually not mandatory in many states... they just don't like to tell you that.

In CA, for instance, you have 3 options for abstaining from vaccinations.... 1. religous reasons 2. medical reasons 3. philosophical reasons (i..e. you DON'T WANT TO!)

      But anyway, I digress.....

anyone know of any kids with chicken pox, so we can hang out? :)
