A New Year Arrives

Welcome to the New Year!

We look forward to 2008 as it will be the year our little game chanegs into a whole new game. We will be changing the setting of our game, and moving it further into the future, at least a few months, perhaps a year. Our game will be moving to the Gamma Quadrant where we will establish a new outpost, and learn all we can about the mysterious area of space we will come to know as The Dawnspring. What becomes of the old starbase, and the old ships? Those names will pass over to some old friends...the originators of the Omega Fleet themselves are back in action, and will be utilizing that game setting soon enough. Expect a reappearance of the old ships in due time.

This tribe's name will change as part of the new game as well. Expect that change soon enough.

September News: Omega Fleet

It's September, which means another month has gone by, and time for another fleet update.

The USS Venture has run afoul of an old nemesis, and taken a pounding while escorting the hull of the USS Excelsior to the fleet museum. The Mirror Universe counterpart of the Venture's XO, Alex Ramius, made a reappearance and attempted to destroy the Venture using the USS Excelsior. The Venture's crew responded, and were able to chase off the attackers. In no shape to pursue the mastermind of the attack as he flees into the night, the crew must lick their wounds, and complete their journey. The attack also put Samantha McMullen at risk, the pregnant wife of the Venture's commander, Rear Admiral Robert McMullen. Things couldn't be more personal between these two now.

The starbase has begun to suffer the effects of a space-time distortion, which is resulting in the crew beginning to age in reverse! Can they discover what is happening and stop it while they can still reach the controls? Could this be the last mission for the Omega Fleet?

October News: The Omega Fleet

Big changes are coming our way!

Another game will soon inheret the title of Omega Fleet, and our game will take on a new name. Star Trek :Dawnspring. I expect to change the name of this tribe at that time. Still the same group of us, just with a new name, vision and mission. I'm excited for the upcoming change and look forward to enacting it with all of you.

The founders of the Omega Fleet game have returned, and to them and the game they now run will be returned the title Omega Fleet. The game we run now by that name has evolved significantly enough to warrant reinvention, and we look forward to both games simming side by side, with past present and future incarnations of the game world represented.

Both games will be part of the Alpha Quadrant Sim Group.

Att his time, the site works with IE only, Firefix seems to take issue with it. It was designed in MS word, so that accounts for some funkiness. Same goes for the Google pages I made to support the game directly from the group.

August News: Omega Fleet

Not much news to report. Both missions continue though the starbase mission is not as active as the Venture's at this time.

Yahoo Groups, which many games use to sim on, is conductinga beta for their pending overhaul of yahoo groups. I have a test site set up members can try out to see how the new set up looks and feels. It can be found here:

Also set up a Yahoo 360 Blog for posting news to. Both this and this tribe's discussion can be fed to Yahoo groups now through a special module. Pretty psyched about that, myself.

The AQSG has decided to seek volunteers among the command staff to work on its behalf with administrative duties. From this, we obtained a person willing to assume the webmaster duties, as well as a recruiter. Both seem to be putting in lots of time on our behalf, and we thank them for that.

If you excuse me, I owe a post or two to the game as I type this, and I will have to duck some pies hurled in my direction by a certain general if I don't get a move on. Cheers!

July News: Omega Fleet

Hello all,

I know nothing usually happens in this tribe. Sorry about that. I'm going to make an attempt to update it regularly, and see if I can sustain that.

Yahoo groups is going through a new beta process, and one of the options would be to allow an RSS module feed to the main group page. I think Tribe would support that capability, if the YG will. I thought having a blog for the group might be somewhat nice for players. I suppose I could do one from another service, but this would be more of a 'tribe community' feed, I guess. I'm testing it on a test group currently, and who knows. In a few months when they get the bugs worked out, it might actually be something nice to have.

Well, on to Fleet news: we've gotten a couple new faces in our game, and the games continue, though somewhat sporadic on the activity front.

The USS Venture has left the starbase and was escorting the restored hull of the USS Excelsior to her place at the fleet museum, When Suddenly (there's always a When Suddenly) the Excelsior came to life and blasted the Venture. It seems one doesn't so casually stroll into the Mirror Universe, raise hell, and expect to walk away without consequence!

Meanwhile, back on Starbase Omega, things have gotten particularly bad. Our fleet's first visit from Q has just occurred. What is he so cryptically warning us of? We don't know yet, but if he's involved, it can't be good!

Wether you joined as your character or as yourself, welcome! Tell us a bit about yourself!

I live in California, and have been playing Star Trek PBEMs since I found out they existed back in 1997. I'm a big ol' dork, and am interested in roleplaying games (since high school) and science fiction and creative writing (my whole life). Madigan Frost is my longest running character. He was the first character to command a ship within the game that was the start of what is now the Omega Fleet, the USS Venture.

We also host the USS Robert April game, which was a name I gave an NPC ship originally, in homage to Gene Roddenberry's original concept for a Captain of the Enterprise, prior to Pike (or so I believed at the time I used the name). The same fellow who did our awesome tribe logo was her first captain, and the rogue who recruited me for what is about to be seven years of shenanigans with the Omega Fleet. In fact, though it may sound like I stared the fleet, we can resoundingly blame him for all this, and his co-founder Admiral Stayduhar. Here's the April for you:
