Yeah baby - finally bit the bullet and moved into what I hope will be the last audio production application I ever have to teach myself. It's pretty much Industry standard, so I should learn it, eh? I still like Cuebase, but have to admit, I move faster in Pro Tools already.

Yeah so - I've solidified my selection of gear over the past year... I'm playin a '72 Telecaster Thinline, through a DigiTech GNX4 for effects, into an Orange AD30TC amp in mono. (Damn it would be COOL to have two of these amps, and run in stereo!) I'm still pretty fond of the D'Addario EXL115's for strings (guaged .011, 0.36, 0.46, 0.71, 0.97, and 1.24) but probably because I've been buying them by the 10 pack and don't experiment much. (I seem to remember liking DRs for a while back in the 90's, and Gibson Brite Wires are likely to get experimented with when I can afford it.) Oh! Let's not forget my baby... my Taylor 412 accoustic.

Mercury is one of the seven metals of alchemy (gold, silver, mercury, copper, lead, iron & tin). The symbol for mercury could also be used to represent the planet of the same name in astrology. The metal is often also represented by a serpent or snake. Mercury, called quicksilver by the ancients was used to make red mercuric oxide by heating the element in a solution of nitric acid. The reaction of quicksilver in nitric acid is striking as a thick red vapor hovers over the surface and bright red crystals precipitate to the bottom. Alchemists were convinced that mercury transcended both the solid and liquid states, both earth and heaven, both life and death.

In French, the term papillon (butterfly) has been reported. The proliferation of terms for this creature may illustrate one subtle peril of iconic interfaces. Many people have been mystified by the cloverleaf-like symbol that appears on the feature key. Its oldest name is ‘cross of St. Hannes’, but it occurs in pre-Christian Viking art as a decorative motif. Throughout Scandinavia today the road agencies use it to mark sites of historical interest. Apple picked up the symbol from an early Mac developer who happened to be Swedish. Apple documentation gives the translation “interesting feature”! This is my second love, an Orange AD30TC. Nothing beats the snap and definition you will experience from a class A amplifier fully cranked! It is a tone that no amount of transistor or digital circuitry can mimic. Take a look at any modeling amplifier and you will always find this sound missing. (I purchased this used from a co-worker who named her, at a stellar price... couldn't have come at a better time.)

This is the '72 re-issue Fender Telecaster Thinline I purshased last year. It was a very cathartic purchase after a divorce that, while not particularly bitter, really did rip my gutts out. (And assuaged the fact that I could not attend Burning Man at that time.) Hopefully you'll have plenty of opportunities to see me with her on stage in the future!
