Wed, April 30, 2008 - 7:10 AMTom Petty is a strange man. When I saw him in concert about 10 years ago he refused to come out on stage until every single light in the arena was turned off. Even with one small light in a booth way up at the top of the arena he would not come out to play BUT when he did the show was great!! -

Tom Petty was born in Gainesville, Florida in 1950. Like many musicians, Tom Petty became inspired to become a musician after seeing Elvis Presley perform in his hometown. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers entered the music scene in 1976 with a self-titled album. They followed up with You're Gonna Get It! in 1978, and the band's success was tremendous. In the late 80's and 90's Petty was inspired to begin work on solo projects, but continued to work with his band-mates ass!

The video "Don't Come Around Here No More" is creepy, and during that time period he was a strange dude. BUT yes, he can still rock. Super Bowl was good. -
