onions and sulphites

I have a sulphite allergy resulting in joint swelling and severe headaches. I have the same headaches when eating onions

    is there any difference in your symptoms if you eat vidalia onions? The soil they're grown in has less sulfur and the onions are known for their resulting sweetness.
