I have an online web application called Early Bird Garage Sale (www.earlybirdgaragesale.com). I think it is a hard application, but I am struggling to get the word out. I would love to hear what other people have done to really get their online sites going. Is it all about having money or are there better tricks?

Sat, November 4, 2006 - 1:41 AMJoe its ALL about getting the word out, approach print magazines and get published in some capacity. its tedious work doing the PR thing but its worth it. Try submitting even a press release on some of the free PR sites, this helps even the big boys use them. Just make sure its a new aspect of your business and not a sales pitch. You will loose credibility, and dont forget have a cool contest of some sort, this really works well.

Thu, November 9, 2006 - 11:18 PMThat's right. It is a PR game. Money is of lesser value than PR. especially in an advertising based service.
The things I spend the most money on are PR and advertising, the quality of the technology and my business plan.

Re: Getting your online site moving. Is it all about having money?
Thu, April 5, 2007 - 12:31 PMHey Joe,
Mike here. Great idea for a website. How long have you been going at it? Remember, don't give up.These things take time. Ive recently started my own home business opportunity. I had a massive stroke at age 37, now I'm 43. Being unable to work any longer sucked financially at first, but I soon after started getting Disability payments. The biggest benefit was all the time I had on my hands. I scoured the internet for some "legitimate" home business opportunity for about 2 yrs. Finally I came across GDI. Only after thoroughly checking them out did I join up. After checking the leaderboards out each day did it dawn on me that the big guy's must be spending tons of cash on advertising. Having such a limited budget has cost me dearly. Since joining GDI I've had only moderate success. I created my own tribe here. it's at tribes.tribe.net/simplegdiprospects . Stop in and tell me what you think. Be brutally honest with me. The more comments I get (good or bad) will really help me out in the long run. One more thing.........Go and join many MSN GROUPS . Post ad's in as many groups as possible just to get your name out there. You never know.........You could have the next EBAY or something similar to it.
Good Luck,
Mike
