Hi Everyone,
I have made my special brand of Psytrance and have entered a track of mine into the Mushroom Magazine Producer Contest. Online voting is now taking place and it will go til the 23rd of March so, please vote for my track!!! It is a Fullon Morning Psytrance track, I go as Papa Kuma and the name of my track is Tamashii (which means "spirit" or "soul" in Japanese). Missing y'all

So I'm coming up on my second month working in the mountains, and it's looking like it'll be at least until October (if then) that I'll be in Vancouver on a club night, quite possibly longer.

Fortunately, the dishwasher at the lodge that I'm working at (me), has control over the music, so I'm playing psytrance almost every meal, and dancing around in the kitchen during cleanup in the evening. The dishpit looks out over the lake, and towards the mountains, so when it's windy or snowing I get to see gusts of air moving along with the music.

But it's not the same as being at the club.

I'm just posting to say that I miss you guys, and if any of you know me, feel free to give a random person a hug at Organix, and say "That's from Darryl".

hi folks :o) i just arrived this month in BC for my new life in the vineyards, with my girlfriend, in the Okanagan Valley ;o)
i dont really know which door i should knock on to send a demo to the the right persons and maybe play in a party or two, especialy this summer.

Hey there!

I used to go to Organix religiously when it used to be on Thursdays when I lived in Vancouver 5 years ago. I love it and am so glad it's still happening.

One of the things that was so cool was the way all kinds of folks used to bring their drums and bongos and play along with the DJed music. I was wondering if that still happens at the new club on Friday nights?

So thrilled the night is still happening and I can't wait to attend again.

Since I had a wicked time DJing at Dark Matter 2 on June 9th, 2007, I am very glad to say that the live recording of my set turned out well enough to warrant sharing it! This set features several different styles of full-on psychedelic trance, moving from dark and aggressive beats through a series of heavy hitters into an upbeat and euphoric conclusion. With a full two hours to work with, I was able to orchestrate a complete tour of the harmonic spectrum, eventually ending with a song from Logic Bomb’s new album, just as the set began. I would like to dedicate this one to all those who came out on Saturday and gave their best on the dance floor. It was a small party, but it seemed like we all had a blast! Enjoy the tunes!

Space Tribe jacket stolen at Organix :(

Yes friends, it is sad but true...just as Chris was trying to get us hyped for the encore at the club last night (3am), someone grabbed my beloved Space Tribe zip-up hoodie and bolted out the door. To make matters worse, my apt. keys were in the pocket, so i couldn't get into my place until this morning.

So, if you happen to see a black ST hoodie with a DNA design on the back and sleeves, it's likely mine - and if the person who took it happens to read this...

C'mon man - it's a distinctive jacket - if you wear it anywhere, we will know - believe me - I will recognize my jacket when I see it. So, if you're wise enough to realize that you made a stupid mistake, just leave it at the Organix coat check, no questions asked. The keys in the pocket are useless to you, and very important to me.

Someone needs to do some learning about the concept of karma...

i lost my purply-blue nokia phone at or outside organix last week (jan 26). was hoping it had been found, but no dice.

it was on when i lost it, but when i realised it was missing maybe an hour or so after the club was over and my friends called it, it had been turned off, suggesting someone did indeed find it.

I wanted to express my appreciation for Chris and the Organix crew and audience. The music in this party has always been awesome and Friday night was killer. It's so good to hear good, tweaky, melodic full-on for 5 hours straight without any dark stuff in there...truly uplifting and the crowd gets it too. The visuals were pretty nice as well.

I just checked out an Organix Friday for the first time, and I have to say, I was blown away. I just moved here from Toronto, so I was really happy that this exists out here. Psytrance (music, culture, art, etc...) has been an integral part of my life for awhile now and the fact that it will continue to foster out here has me pretty stoked.

You could tell there was a pretty solid vibe on the dance floor, the music was nicely dark, cerebral and stompy, and the artwork was right up my alley. I'm currently engrossed in a new-found fascination with sacred geometry, so a lot of the paintings were really captivating me.

I'm living in Campbell River for the next 8 months or so, but I hope to be down in Vancouver for another Friday before the new year.

Where to start.

Firstly. Is there a database/website somewhere that has all the upcoming gigs? Or is it a matter of trolling through tribe after tribe looking for events?

Secondly. Who is putting on full-on parties? I went to an Organix party a month or so ago. I think Junya was playing. It was all a bit light for my taste. What other party organisations are worth checking out? Who is doing dark, twisted, serious full on psychedelica type parties? Anyone - or is the darker sde of psy not really rated in Van?

Thirdly. Anyone with some decks want to meet up for a bit of a spin/music swapping session?

Sorry Chris (and others), I know this isn't really related to Organix or even trance specifically, but it is pretty musically based and fits in with some of the ideals that many of us do share (I hate the word "hippy", even if it begins with the word "Goa", but c'mon, it's not that far off the mark).

And in a very real way, it's close to the kind of massive public event that we all dream of seeing happen in the Lower Mainland trance scene, someday.

So I'm pasting it anyways, it's fun and they need reliable volunteer type people, and I know that there are some pretty solid folks in this tribe:

Hello and happy springtime to all residents, landed immigrants, and soul-citizens of the Peoples' Republic of East Vancouver.

If you experienced last year's first-ever Car-Free Commercial Drive Festival, then your memories of the day tell the story. The Fest was a glorious free-for-all street party, with music and dance, art and magic, demented bicycles, street hockey, a freestore, a healing zone, vendors and infotables and so much more…all thrown down for free, by the people of The Drive, for the people of The Drive and our guests. The Festival gave us a day to celebrate the unique multi-dimensional spirit of our community, and to experience our space reclaimed from cars and given back to people.

The Commercial Drive Festival was successful way beyond our imaginings. Around 25,000 people participated, including over 250 volunteers. The Festival is completely volunteer organized and presented (including performances). Many of the organizers and day-of volunteers reported that the experience of participating in the festival opened new doors for them in connecting with their community, meeting cool funky folks, and playing a part in the creation of a magnificent event.

So, we are doing it again! This year's Fest will happen on Sunday June 18 -- Fathers' Day. The street will be closed again to all motorized traffic, from First Ave to Venables and from Woodland to Salsbury. This year's Festival will also include Victoria Park, the World Cup Zone, to celebrate East Van's multicultural fabric around the theme of soccer, the "international sport." Buses will be re-routed along Victoria Drive. Programming will happen between noon and 6, but the hours of street closure will be from 10 am to 8 pm.

Of course, we can't do this Festival without you. This is your invitation to help co-create the dream.

We are still seeking a few people to fill key organizer roles, so if you are well-organized and enjoy directing the flow, please step up.

Beyond that, we need lots of people to do just a little bit each in the days leading up to the Festival, including:
-graphics (still looking for poster art!)
-website design
-banner-painting
-flyering and postering
-outreach to organizations, communities or events
-media contacts
-liaison with Drive merchants and residents
-gathering donations for volunteer support and afterparty

And we especially need helpers for Festival Day, for sundry chores including:

-blockade marshalls*
-setup
-teardown and cleanup
-drivers with vans or trucks
-site maintainance
-vibekeepers (low-key "security")
-donation fairies
-sign-makers
-info-table staffers
-video/still documentation
-creating participatory art (perhaps on the theme of Fathers Day?)
-general support and gophering

*we need a LOT of people to help keep those cars at bay! We will supply sidewalk chalk.

We request a two-hour minumumum time commitment on Fest Day if possible.

So please, drop us a line asap and tell us what you'd like to do, or if you just want to help out doing whatever is needed. Tell us if you have time restrictions or physical limitations. And also tell us if you have special talents, interests, or resources you'd like to share.

So here I am, moving to Vancouver

So, here I am, moving from Honolulu to Vancouver, leaving what I have built here for my friends to continue and starting once more from zero. Anyway, I will live in Vancouver in 5 days and am looking for friends, parties and gigs! My dj style includes most kinds of trance, from swedish progressive to full on melodic to deep and dark night to ambient. I am a resident dj on www.psy-usa.com. I also produce my own tracks and lately have had good feedback from the crowds on the dancefloor on them. As long as it is psy, I pretty much like it, except for Skazi of course ;)

we would like to put together an opening circle to kick off the music and whatnot at Karma. we would like to have some drummers drumming, a nice fire show and some safety folk on board.

Many people were either stranded, or planning on exiting to Van via u-haul party. A very gererous friend of ours who had the means to assist us all in our venture home invited us to join him. We loaded up and started the journey. We stopped @ Tim Horton's & Wendy's for sustinance, and smoke break before hitting the highway someone decided to be a "good Samaritan" and contact the local athorities about our activities. The following was posted in the "Squamish Chief" local newspaper.

Alluvium insanity

Holy jumpin' horny toads! That had to be the most insane weekend EVER!! First off I want to thank Mike for being himself and allowing us all to party with him in such a beautiful location. I feel I need to share my personal favourite highlights of the weekend.

First let's start with the rocky entry into the party. I have only one thing to say about that: Next time traveling up there, watch out for that big fucking rock. The population of this festival were for the most part the most awesome people I have ever had the pleasure of being with. Triton and his mobile eatery with the most incredible sandwich I have ever eaten. I recall telling Kiwi that I wish I could travel back in time 3 minutes so I could eat it all over again. Totally worth the hour wait in line.

Saturday night after all tents were pitched and the nice rumbling music was in full swing we started exploring the woods. Out across the river in the dried land between, you get a marvelous view of the surrounding mountain range. I spent at least and hour being all philosophical with my buddy Brian. After nightfall when the LSD/Holochron stage started with the green laser display in the trees, Shadow, Paul and myself began playing with their lightsabers. Shadow can certainly draw a crowd with his skilled swordsmanship. Our tent was pitched next to the entryway to the PoRTaL. Lightsaber battles in the psychadelic portal was incerdible to say the least. Darrel and his companions staked their claim to a cozy little dwelling just down the path from the main road. As usual he spent his time passing good will and healing energies to all who seemed to need it. I was having a moment of dejectedness so I went for a short walk to talk with him and hopefully clear out these negative feelings. I made my way to him to find him doing energy work on Heidi. I sat in the sun and shared a cigarette with him while he worked. Spending that 30 minutes watching him work and observing the landscape washed away any anxiety I had and put me back in the mood to spread warm fuzzies to others.

I won't fill the 12 pages I could write about all the stuff I saw and did, but I must tell about the ride home. A very generous fellow that requested to be anonymous loaded 21 stranded people into a large truck with all the gear and drove us all home. EXCEPT when we stopped in Squamish for Tim Hortons and Wendy's someone saw our activities and called the local athorities. We were stopped just exiting Squamish and were given a fine for unsafe driving (traveling Mexican style is frowned upon). Unable to leave the way we intended we were forced to walk back into town (not too far) to a hotel where we parked the truck and proceeded to continue the party until Tuesday evening around 6pm. There are a few people I need to talk to to aquire all the photos taken but I will work on getting them posted. Thanks again Mike for being the incredible person you are and thanks to everyone else for making this happen.

Went to my buddy Joel's house this weekend. Smoke a few joints and watch A Mid-Summer Night's Rave. Great movie. I swear I know about 5 people that have copies of them in this tale of raves in love. I recommend this flick to all who like movies. Next movie to see "It's all gone Pete Tong".

Just read Ashley's post, and it's almost the same story for me. I know I've met most of the "regulars" from Organix' Friday night bash. I have to say some of the people there are more orniginal and, somehow, more real than the regular plastic people that seem to fill my life as of late. I know it sounds cliche and overdone to say that most people are fake, but I have friends that have reciently turned their back for stupid reasons, where as the individuals from the club seem to not only be genuinely interested but also concerned fro happenings in my life. It is an energy I have never felt before and I find myself being drawn towards it like a moth to the proverbial flame.

Just joined this tribe and thought I would introduce myself instead of lurking in the shadows... :)
I went to organix a few months ago for the first time, and truth be told, it was one of the best club night's i've ever been too. Everyone I met seemed open-minded and friendly, and the music was just what I was expecting/hoping for. I hope to make it out to organix again, but unfortunatly I live in Cloverdale (boo!) and don't get out to Vancouver much, but hopefully as summer is approaching, I will be able to make it out sooner then later :)
