Ladies.
After viewing your auditions, I feel that a simple one hour or so seminar on what is expected as a professional bellydance entertainer (for haflas (arabic word for "party".....usually used in this sense to describe an evening of bellydancing in a public venue) restaurants, conventions, weddings, and even for auditions!) might be really helpful in fine-tuning your performances. I would like to teach this class asap--perhaps even next week, and we could repeat it as needed. I will be going over every detail of what is appropriate and expected down to music selection, costuming, payment, ethics, logistics....as well as a checklist of everything you will need to have as a professional entertainer. I will also allow a lengthy question and answer period to go over anything you are curious or concerned about. This will be a frank and open discussion that will hopefully take some of the mystery out of taking the next step. It is in my best interest, as well as yours, to have you be more knowledgeable about these aspects to help you look, and be, as professional as possible. This "seminar" will be a regular class ticket, and since we are just sitting, I will open it up to up to 25 people on a "sign up" basis. It will be first open only to current troupe members, and those who auditioned to be in troupe (whether they are cast this time or not), and be opened up mid-week if we have any left over spaces to anyone else with professional performance goals for the future. I strongly recommend anyone with this interest to come. If you are wanting to come, start thinking of any/all questions you may have. I am expecting this to happen on either Friday or Saturday early evening, right after classes, and will finalize tomorrow after seeing what my private class schedule looks like (left my appointment book at the studio last night!) This class will be a minimum of one hour, but will greatly depend on how many questions we have.

Also, Belda will be repeating her fabulous "building a choreography" workshop sometime soon this summer---I will be getting with her to go over details.
