EGYPTIAN BELLY DANCE
is an authentic ethnic dance in movement and spirit. The dance and dancer are the physical manifestation of and visual compliment to the intricate music they accompany. Like ballet, belly dance has precise movements based in root concepts. The dancer enjoys a full range of emotional expression within the cultural boundaries of the dance.

FOLKLORIC DANCE AND FURTHER STUDIES-
A’isha offers classes in various folkoric dances of the Middles east and North Africa, including styles from Egypt, the Levantine countries, Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Gulf. In her continuing classes students delve into music, costuming and other aspects of dance studies that give students and professional dancers the skills to become educated and well rounded dancers. Studies include Tunisian, Raqs Assaya, Ghawazi, traditional and stage versions of Saidi, Traditional Palestinian and stage versions for Debke, and three styles of Samri, including Raqs Nejdi Hadith.

Students are introduced to the 10 fundamental movements of belly dance. We explore variations on movement. Students are introduced to Middle Eastern music and culture. A short choreography is learned. We learn a few simple finger cymbal rhythms and we learn the use of veils in both Egyptian and American styles. This is a year long class and new students can join at any time.

CONTINUING BELLY DANCE AND FOLKORIC CLASSES
Sunday, 10:00- 11:00 AM
Belly dance classes in the continuing format are based on A'isha's “Exploring” series, in which students learn more about families of movement, variations, layering, and phrasing for Egyptian belly dance. These classes take the dance to a more complex and more musically interpretive level. In these classes subjects can range from music appreciation, to choreography techniques, to folkloric dance, from music to costuming to movement to cultural and social implications of the dance in its native environment.
