I just bought an iomega 500gb usb external hard drive and need some help understanding and making it work.
I've tried the website etc etc.
Basically I plugged it in and it appears as an icon on my desktop below macintosh hd but as far as making it do something I am lost. The only thing i was able to do was open it as a folder and drag all of my files into there, which took a long time uploading, but it still says I have only 2.5 gb left. but four hundred something when i click on the iomega icon. I'm doing something wrong.
I bought this with the intention of freeing up some of my space for garageband, but ironically garageband is running worse than it did before. I do intend to buy additional ram but that is the next step, I would just like to make this work first =)
Does anyone have any advice or experience with this matter?

Sun, February 24, 2008 - 8:59 PMtry to go into the disk utility and then partition the drive with a mac partition.
beforehand, I would empty the drive back to you internal drive as whatever you had moved to it will be ereased during this.
Most likely, the drive came formatted for a PC.
