In the beginning, there was the fire. The eternal, ever-transforming, creative source and fabric of All That Is. When the fire had children, she named one Drummer, and the other, Dancer. Drummer contained within himself all of the boldness, passion, spark, and courage of the fire. Dancer contained within herself all the grace, beauty, sensuousness, and comfort of the fire. Drummer heard the song of the fire within his heart, and he played a noble song upon his drum to honor it. Dancer felt the joy of existence within her heart, and reflected that joy in her dance. Drummer and Dancer travelled far and wide, and played many games together, knowing that every game they played was but a reflection of the play of the eternal fire.

In time though, their eyelids grew heavy and they grew sleepy. Drummer drummed for so long that he came to believe that the song he heard was his alone, and his rhythm was no longer harmonious. Dancer kicked up so much dust in her frenzy that she could no longer see the light of the fire.

It was only when Drummer listened to the space between the beats, and heard the voice of the silence, that he could hear the fire burning in his heart again. And it was only when Dancer looked deep into the stillness of her motion, when she allowed the fire to burn away her ego, that she regained her vision and her true nature.

The symbol of ST. JOHN is the eagle, because from first to last his Gospel soars on eagle's wings to the very throne of heaven. The figures near the bottom of each window are merely decorative.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-14, NKJV).

Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” (John 20:17, NIV).

This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true. Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. (John 21:24-25, ESV).

As I got closer I realized there were two of them stuck up there. They were both female so it looked to me like someone had put them up there and abandoned them probably because you have to get females fixed or you'll have about 50 cats in a few years.

They are both black right now with a little bit of gray underneath. The bigger one has more light hair than the other and a more round face, I call her Awen. The smaller is pure black with a more angular face and I call her Onyx. They're both really sweet but Onyx is a little bit more lively from what I've seen. I really want to keep them, I immediately grew attached but I live with my parents right now and they've already got 2 cats and 4 dogs so they don't want anymore. If I can talk them into it, I may keep Onyx. Whether I give them both away or just one I want them to go to people who will take good care of them and appreciate them. If you're interested let me know and maybe we can work something out. I live about 2 hours from Kansas City.

The ordinance will effectively stop street performing in Kansas City and trample on the rights of any citizen wanting to speak out in their 'protected zones." You can find details and links on www.kcstreetart.com.

If we can get 100 registered voters to sign the petition, the ordinance will be put on hold for 30 days. By then a new, hopefully less evil, council will have taken over and we plead our case to them. Kansas City does not belong only to the wealthy, we all have a right to the public spaces, and the council needs to hear that.

- Where will this be?
In the upstairs meeting room at Aquarius / Vulcan's
Forge, at 3936 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri.

- Who will be doing this?
This Gathering will be hosted by Kelsey Reid, Bill
Whipple, and Beth Whipple. For those of you who are
unfamiliar with these names, we are members of The Drum
Clan which is based at the Camp Gaea Retreat Center.
You may also know us from the Kansas City Renaissance
Festival as members of The Druid Drummers and Gypsy
Dance Troupe from performance seasons past; we are "Ivy
Cooper, the Piper / Drummer", "Willem Cooper, the
Master Cooper / Drummer", and "Chal, the Gypsy Dancer".
For our friends and Clan: Welcome! Please come and join
us!

- What will we be doing?
For this first Gathering, we will be doing "A Circle of
Drums". This is a tradition of long standing, which
began several years ago at the Kansas City Renaissance
Festival as an afternoon performance of the Druid
Drummers and Gypsy Dance Troupe. At the performance we
would pass out Drums and "Noise Toys" to the general
audience and we would teach the history of the Drum
Circle, and the basics of how to Drum and how to Dance.
In a short, 30 minute space of time an audience of
strangers and novices would become a Circle of Friends,
drumming and dancing together. We will be carrying on
this tradition, once again.

- Who should come?
ANYONE who is Curious OR who wishes to Learn the Art
and Tradition of Drumming and Dancing. ANY Drummers or
Dancers, no matter what your skill level, are welcome
to join the Circle. ANYONE who wishes to "Keep the
Flame" in the Ancient Druidic Tradition of Gathering,
Preserving, and Sharing Knowledge, is encouraged to
Come and Join the Circle.

- What should you bring?
Bring your Drum and / or your Self, and an open Heart
and Mind. Bring your Hands and Feet. If you have extra
Drums or Noise Toys that you are willing to let others
play and use, please bring those as well.

- How long will this last?
The formal Teaching Circle for Drumming and Dancing
will last at least 45 minutes. Following this we will
continue with a full In-Gathering of the Clan until at
least 5:00pm; Drumming, Dancing, Teaching and Learning
from one another. If you have drums or other equipment
to share, or if you would like to help set up, we will
begin the setup at about 2:30pm.

Ssh... Listen to your Heart. Do you hear the call of
the drums? They are calling to you. Please follow the
call and:
I've been a pagan all of my life (so far) except for brief jaunts into Christianity (ugh), Taoism (far out), Buddahism (too strict), Shinto (wierd), Atheism (can't do it, need something to believe in), etc. Keep coming back to the Earth. Guess that's where I'm supposed to be. Anyway, I'm 57 years young, heavily tattooed, dog lover, married, grandpa X 4, earth lovin ex hippie (is there any ex to that?) I'd love to hear from anyone out there who still cares about this old earth of ours. It's all we got so we need to revere it, respect it, honor it, love it, &defend it. Later. P.S. I'm Irish, Scottish, Cherokee, & Navajo (Dine'). Guess that explains a lot about my temprement.

Hi folks. I'm sad to post that we've had another death in the family: Mike Heidler. Here is his pic for those who didn't know him by his last name: people.tribe.net/questorelf

Shelley sent this note to me today and meant to send it to the yahoogroup as well.
Mike was an enthusiastic participant in this community and will be missed for sure.
--Zay

Hello everyone,
This letter is coming to you from Shelley.
I have never experienced anything like this before and hope you will forgive my lack of tack or grace.
After noticing Mike didn't go to work today and he wouldn't answer my phone calls, i went over to enter his house with my key. I knocked on the door and it opened. I had a terrible feeling and yelled in for Mike. He didn't answer. I yelled again and no answer.
I called the police to check his house because I couldn't get myself to enter. It felt not safe. They went in and found him laying on his bed. They said it looked as if he passed by natural causes. my love and blessings to you all. I am sorry to tell you this way.
I most likely will not stay on mikes email much if you need to contact me i will gladly reply the best i can. mereshelley@yahoo.com
Blessed be,
shelley
