entitled "Unconscious" (2004). Rated R, 1 hr. 40 mins. (Spanish with English subtitles)

The synopsis reads:

When Freudian psychiatrist Leon vanishes, his pregnant wife, Alma and her brother-in-law Salvador try to uncover the mystery behind his disappearance in this intelligent comedy. Set in Barcelona, Spain in 1913, the film follows Alma and Salvador as they find clues in Leon's accounts for four "hysterical" female patients and then track down the subjects in an attempt to locate the missing doctor.

I enjoyed it cause it portrayed characters that seemed true to Freud's theories of human behavior while also leaving room for skeptical 'wiggle-room.' It brought to my mind a bit of curiosity as to what it must have been like to be living in well-to-do intelligent society at the time that Freud's theories were gaining acceptance and respect. The film does a good job at depicting the kind of havoc these ideas might have had in this family, and how it might not have been as beneficial (on the surface) for everyone at the time.

    It's also playful!
