what's ten dollars? I picked up a brand-new fire extinguisher at Wal-Mart. It's guaranteed to be effective for ten years without a recharge if unused. It's good for class A solids, class B chemicals, and class C electrical source fires. They also sold me a never-been-used five gallon bucket. Red Cross training as a first responder, I possess an ample first aid kit. Count me in at the safety meeting on Sunday.
Y'all juggle fire better today than I could if I started today and studied for the next ten years. My days as a flexible young man are far behind me. As a volunteer fire-fighter though, I could still bring my cameras and enjoy the show. The tactic or goal is preserving the event by ensuring public safety. Let's work out some strategies.

Fri, March 21, 2008 - 11:08 AMfyi, the fire extinguishers need to be checked out every year to be legal, even though they're good for 10 years.
basically, the safety stores charge you a few bucks to turn it upside down, hit it a few times, check the charge & put a new tag on it.
my 2 cents...

Re: volunteer fire-fighter
Fri, March 21, 2008 - 1:36 PMA. At least one 2A-10BC minimum classification fire extinguisher will be required for each performance to combat any flammable or combustible liquid fires. The Fire Marshal may require additional extinguishers, dependent upon the circumstances of the performance and occupancy.
keep this in mind I am not sure what kind of extinguisher you purchased but I know that I have not been able to find one with these min specs for under $40. have I been spending way too much?

my two cents
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 3:02 AMAt 33 years oldish, I have had my cpr and first aid cards trained and retrained since I was 17, and I know many others possess these certs...
If anyone actually does not have these then it is imperative that they do soon... in my opinion anyway.
