Re: Maps of Forest Park
Sat, April 21, 2007 - 6:57 PMSounds great. There are plenty of parks I haven't got to yet. My fave is Kelly Point Park but of course it's close and my dog Sage loves to swim and run there. -

Walks?
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 11:28 AMI'm off work all this week for my birthday on Wednesday, I'd be up for some walks if anyone's free... -
-
Re: Walks?
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 12:16 PMI can do that, Ian. I'm in, and if we can coordinate it for any or all... or even just us... Any others?

Re: Walks?
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 1:25 PMI'd love to go. My only free day this week is Friday between 9am and 2pm though. Have to drop off kiddo at school and pick her up again afterwards. -
-
Re: Walks?
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 2:02 PMI work a full time Monday-Friday job so mid-week walks are out for me. Have a great time. I hope you have wonderful weather.

Re: Walks?
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 6:07 PMUnless there's other schedules, say meeting @ 10:00 AM, Friday, if it works for others) somewhere with better parking than NW 23rd... Tet meet and hob-nob near some espresso machine... (?) We could just take a car-run to a park trailhead and hike, as I've yet to pre-try out my stairs route. -

Re: Walks?
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 9:17 PMI'm in! We could meet near Food Front in the NW, and then drive to the parking lot on Upshur, and get into Forest park that way. Isn't there a cafe near Food Front? BTW, I much prefer NON-STAIRS route, despite the novelty.

Re: Walks?
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 10:17 PMMy work schedule is such that I can't do this kind of thing unless it's on a weekend. Bummer!

Re: Walks?
Tue, April 24, 2007 - 9:12 AMI'm free Friday as well, and love hiking. I can bus/bike to a Forest Park trailhead if we settle on one that is on the city side (I'm coming from far SE) or meet people in the city first if there's space.

Re: Tomarrow?
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 8:30 PM*sigh* Unfortunately I now need to stick around here Friday morning in case someone from the gas company needs access to our furnace, which is on the fritz. -

Re: Tomarrow?
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 11:13 PMI'm still up for a walk. See you at Food Front, Ian. -

Re: Tomarrow?
Fri, April 27, 2007 - 6:23 PMMy car decided it needed major surgery, so that screwed up ALL my plans. I hope all who went enjoyed the lovely day it was today! -

Re: Tomarrow?
Sat, April 28, 2007 - 9:49 AMIt was just Kali and me but we had a nice walk...
Ok, somebody call it - next one? -
-
Re: Tomarrow?
Sat, April 28, 2007 - 10:42 AMNot that "just" a walk with the delightful and very endearing Kali is to be lightly passed over... eh? Nor, I suspect, your company is either, Ian. Sorry to missed you... I'm having to meantime play by ear day to day... next few weeks, but I think weekdays are difficult for not a few... Just set up time and place and many may make it... It's really a wonderful group of suspects and beautiful surroundings... I'd enjoy picnics and maybe further afield... as I say, coming up...

Re: Haunted History Walks?
Thu, May 24, 2007 - 5:13 PMSalve!
Okay, so "Call it" Ian said. Well, how about this. Some friends and I are putting together a walking "Haunted History Tour" of Vancouver. The walk can range between approx. 2 to 8 miles. It just depends on what people want. There is a lot of history and haunting in this little town, and we're pretty up on most of it.
It will be part of the fundraising things our nonprofit performs, but we're still trying to work out the details of things, so it's a kind of Proto-Walk. The suggested donation is just Shoe Rubber! Okay, please don't bring me shoe rubber...not that I don't deserve it now :-)
We're planning on Sunday at 10:30 am. If you're interested, please PM me, or reply here, or email me at jamessr (at) thesoma (dot) org
It really is a great walk with some good stories and a chance to get to know everyone.
Vale!

Re: Haunted History Walks -- One last try
Fri, June 22, 2007 - 1:37 AMHey.
Sorry we've cocked this up a couple of times. The last one we scheduled over Father's Day (doh!), and I didn't get back from out of town until the night before. Okay, so enough excuses. We're going to try to get it together one more time. We ARE meeting at the Starbucks on Main in Vancouver (2420 Main Street) by 11 am (so try to be a bit early). This location is 2 blocks South of 4th Plain on Main Street. Take the 4th Plain Exit West off I-5 Drive about 1/2 a mile to 4th Plain. Turn left at 4th Plain and it's 2 blocks down kiddie corner from the Walgreens.
We will be there even if it's just Phil and I sitting drinking coffee waiting for nobody. We will start walking down Main at 11 am (provided people are there :-)
The walk should not take more than 2 hours. It will be mostly down Main Street with a bit aside to the East and West. RSVP isn't necessary (as we are going to simply be there regardless), but it would be helpful. Private Message to me is the best way to RSVP.
Again, sorry I've made a bit of mess 2x now regarding this walk.
Vale!
