Greetings,
This is a last-minute thing, but hopefully some of you might find it interesting. There is a free music event tonight at a wine bar (they serve beer and non-alcoholic drinks as well) on SE Powell. The music is a mix of different styles of downtempo electronica. Good DJ lineup, comfortable place (and no, I'm not affiliated with the bar, or the production company :) great people. It starts at 8 tonight and I plan to be there at 8 or just after. If you can make it, stop and say hi.
Peace,
Jeff

Poly dating in portalnd--ah can we say chaos boys and girls

okay this is a slight rant....and a overt call for solidarity--or maybe covert call for help

I have personally or through close friends found that many people in the portland burner community state that they support poly type relationships. They state being currently or in the past in them or just generally ok: with them.

However, in practice, there has been so much miscommunication, sly behaviour, disrespect, and just general mayhem that I dont know if there really is a truly poly accepting community here.

I have my theories....but i want to get input by you all, weither Im just surrounded by a strange cosmos of my own making before expounding on the community as a whole.

Gist: Is poly friendly happening here for you?
thanks

I was thinking about it today, like I do everyday...
The things that pop into my head most frequently. Daily, hourly sometimes even... Some of my passions...
1. Creating Art, being Awestruck by others artistic creations...
2. Loving, snuggling, laughing, openess...
3. Burning man... the art, the dust, BRC Boutique, friends, lovers, community, gifts, the events that surround the year...
4. Bicycles, living simply, greener, healthier...
5. Fun, sillyness...
Anyone out there thinking the similar things? Of course you are You are Burners!!! Step up and introduce yourselves ...

Hello from a shy nerd

Hi all, just thought I would introduce myself since I'm new to this message board. I'm 28 and married, bisexual (with a leaning towards the lesbian side of things), a fact which I did not tell my husband for YEARS out of habitual shame and the fear that he would somehow be hurt or feel unwanted. But as soon as I found the courage to talk to him about it, this huge weight lifted off my chest, and to my surprise he thought it was cool (I'm not sure why I was surprised). He said that the best part was that now he knows that we have one more thing in common-- We both like women! This happened about a year ago, and our relationship has strengthened so much since I have learned to trust him with my deepest fears and desires; Learned to grant him the same honesty that he has always given me.

So now we find ourselves in the same boat as many other couples-- We think it would be so neat to find a cool woman to love and be loved by. I know this will be difficult, if not impossible. I also know that there are some circumstances in our life that would make such a relationship difficult. So I'm not getting my hopes up for anything to happen any time soon. But I am having a great time reading about other people's stories and adventures, and I'm trying to explore new avenues (I love exploration!). In the meantime, I'll just take things slow, enjoy my fabulous life in this wonderful city, and see if maybe something happens on it's own. If God wants this to happen, I think he'll find a way to make things work, and introduce us to the person with whom it could work. If not, I need to just accept it.

So, a little bit about me: I'm a geek. I love all things sci-fi or fantasy, so of course this includes anime, video games, books (gah, I love the smell of old books!), going to conventions, costuming. I also love going for hikes, dancing, seeing musicals (when I can afford it, which is, like, never), drawing poorly, and mocking things.

Husband is much of the above, with some variation.

Hmm, now that I've gone to the trouble of writing all this, I guess I should post it in my profile, too...

Anyway, that's just my long-winded way of saying "Hi!"

Hi All you PDX poly folks!

Husband and I are planning to attend the Erotic Ball in Portland Feb 23rd, then while he has an overnight date, I'll be on my own from Sunday afternoon until Monday afternoon.

Do you have any suggestions for what's good to do on a Sunday/Monday? Other than browsing Powell's, I don't have a lot of ideas. Are there any poly meetups on Sundays?

I'll be fine poking around on my own but would much prefer some company, so anyone want to join me? The hotel I plan to stay at has a pool and hot tub...... ;~D

Single Bi, Poly Woman...yes we do exist.

Hee,hee...as rare as the fabled unicorn - I am a single bi, poly woman. I am a secondary to a fabulous man whom I love dearly. I don't have a primary partner and I am okay with that but I would like to have a meaningful dating relationship with a woman. I miss having the intimacy of a woman in my life and would enjoy having someone special to share the things in life that increase one's joy in the sharing.

Some of the things I enjoy doing are dance, live music (all kinds), books (excurisions to Powell's Bookstore), hiking, camping, bicycling, travel, art, and so much more...

I am tantric, spiritual although not 'religious', on a path to becoming an energy healer, free-spirited, independent, fun, adventurous, emotionally stable (have references, LOL!!!), and open to whatever life has in store for me. I'd love to find someone who feels they might harmonize with some of these things.

I don't insist that others match all of my interests but I would like to find a wonderful woman with whom I can share some of these.

If any of this strikes a chord, PM me!

So, it is 4 am. What am I doing posting an ad at 4 am? Well, I am ready to start meeting some poly folks interested in friendship and more if there is a connection. I have been busy with work since I hit Portland in May and I finally feel I have some time to actually meet some new folks. I have been to some poly events and met some great people but now I am ready to start dating. I am open to male, female or couples. I am a 45 yo bisexual female that has been in poly relationships in the past. In fact I am seeing a man now but due to conflicting work schedules we do not get to spend much time together. I find it especially difficult to meet bi women my age. I am seeking a poly friendships with the right person(s). Thanks!

Anyone else cold?

I'm looking for someone else that is poly-married, and looking for some additional company this winter?

I'm looking for someone that is active, confident, intelligent and politicly knowledgeable.

Bicyclists, definitely a plus.

C'mon, let's start a conversation soon.

I told a few folks at the meetup last Monday that I would post info for my show tonight.

I'm playing with a great singer songwriter named Jon Itkin at the fabulous Kenton Club, 2025 N. Kilpatrick over near Interstate.
I'm a pdx-metro native, been away for a while, headed back very soon. Not searching for anything in particular, just open to seeing what finds me. Looking forward to meeting any and all...

I'm new here, been listening in for a few days and decided it's safe enough to give a tentative wave. Wow, either there are a lot of people who REALLY LIKE CHOCOLATE, or chocolate is a great excuse to get together. (Personally, I think it's both a vitamin and a poison, in turns.)

I'm considering going to the Poly meet-up Monday in Beaverton. Um, what can I expect? Which is scarier, here, or there? I suppose I could go and eavesdrop, not unlike I've been doing here...

I've been living in PDX for almost one year, and have found it is difficult to make friends. Is this the place? I'm shy to try and establish friendship with non-poly or open men, being married and all, and don't want to have to explain the whole open thing.

So, I figure a week of perusing and commenting, I find myself in the mood to introduce myself, instead of just trolling on everyone else's posts.

I don't know what I am seeking, and the important part is whether I find it, but whether I make the most of my path while I search. Life is complicated, before, now, and hopefully always. While I enjoy the simple things in life, I don't really think a simple life would be enjoyable to me. Challenges, new things. Impulsive and free-spirited by nature.

I like meeting people, by chance or by intention. I'm a recovering introvert, exploring my extroverted side. Want to know more? Ask!

I'm still pretty new to local poly/what-have-you-hodgepodge community after moving up here from Santa Barbara last year, and have inarticulate desires for making new point of contact friends with any and each. Safe, come-as-you-are neutral ground meeting... Just introduce, taking in some local atmospherics together, share food, coffee-house hobnob, simple talking story together, movies, music, event-companions, go slum with chums, activities, kavetch and commisserate about the melodrama/metaphysics of life and everything... Maybe make it ongoing or not... This is not necessarily anything anyone has to be looking for anything but just showing up and being who we are, inclusively respectful of differences... just show my world/show your world whatever-have-you thing... Interested?

Hey folks! Some of you know me, some don't. After an almost 2 year monogamous relationship that unfortunately had to end I'm retuning to my true path in life. I'm actually feeling very good about this for many reasons but I want to put the word out that I"m available again for play and relationships. I'm looking forward to meeting new friends again. It's been awhile since this social butterfly has spread it's wings and it feels great to be out and about again. Feel free to PM me I'm very open and friendly. You may find me fire dancing at local adult parties again after a year off or at the bi monthly fire jams. For more personal info please PM me. See ya round!

Hi, All,

We are looking to find some like-minded people in Bend. We would eventually like to find a second wife for him, but for now, we are just looking for some fun.

His birthday is coming up later this month, and we are looking to maybe meet people for coffee or drinks or whatever to get to know you, and if all works out, maybe throw a little party for the event.

Anyone interested?

Hey everyone. I used to live in Tillamook before the big city/ex-husband sucked me up to Tacoma. Is the Dandelion Pub on Burnside still playing live Blues on Mondays? Hmmm, maybe I should ask if it's still there. I'm hoping that someday we can hit a happy medium in the family and move back to Oregon. In the meantime I would love a reason to get down there more often <wink wink>

at least I hope so.

Ok, here goes...after a recent failed attempt at a poly relationship with a female friend and spending some time on my own, I think I need to be more assertive in looking for someone to connect with for companionship and intimacy. I am looking for a bi-sexual woman in her 30's or 40's who likes to go out and have fun seeing live bands, dancing, going to movies and eating ethnic foods, as well as the occasional night inside by a fire talking, snuggling, sharing ourselves fully. When the weather gets nice it would be great to have someone to go on long hikes and bike rides with, and help each other keep in shape doing fun physical activities.

I am married, bi, poly (obviously) and I have a positive attitude about life. I like to have fun and would love to have other people to enjoy life with. I have a lot of info about myself in my profile. If you want to know more you can PM me.

Happy new year.

Just dropping in my two cents- straight poly male, moved to town from Boston recently with my girlfriend and our cats, and we're looking for many things:

First: good places to go for playing pool, sitting and drinking in a dive bar, dancing, seeing music-type shows, generally getting out and about in town.

Second: good people to bring along for such excursions

Third: possibly, if things work out, someone to date

We've gone to a few of the weekly polycoffee meets, and once to Darklady's thingy, but I can't get out too much during the week, because my job has me working most weeknights, and much of the weekend, as well.

That's about it.

I got here this morning to discover that apparently since I was on yesteray, there have been 11 views of my profile. That must be some kind of record. Or a major glitch.

Anyhow, is there any way to find out who is looking at me? I'm curious, I am!

I'm a polyamorous hetero male who's in a wonderful long term relationship with my wife, but hoping to meet females who'd be interested in getting together with someone who loves going out to see music, and movies, eating all sorts of ethnic cuisines, hiking, art museums, and whatever else comes our way. I'm fun loving, and like going with the flow, but I can also be happy talking deeply about relationships, politics and most anything about the human condition.

I'm not entirely new to town, but have been not very social much of my first year here and am looking to make more friends (friends first, at least) and be less withdrawn generally. I'm 36, politically fairly left, a crazy cat lady, have one partner currently and am poly (obviously) and bi. I belong to the Oregon Myco Society actively and the Rose City Astronomers inactively (probably get involved when we move east next month). I like science fiction (mostly reading), some horror and a lot of weird media generally. Since we're moving to SE Portland (from Beaverton) next month, I expect to be a lot less hermity and ought to get a head start.

Oh, I don't drive at all. I like walking and bicycling and living somewhere that is practical and the public transporation doesn't suck, so it hasn't been that needful, but the difference between 1/2 hour's hop and an hour minimum with one or two transfers is significant. Even getting around Beaverton itself has occasionally been a flaming hemmorhoidal nuisance, because they don't believe in sidewalk continuity out here, or bike-friendly side streets.

Things I do more solitarily are reading & knitting (and I tend to set aside projects for six months, the poor things). Groups I attend are the Wednesday night games (east and west side) and the OMS meetings. Stuff I'd enjoy company doing are hiking, ice-skating & getting some cocoa after, going to see/hear music, to the cheap seats theaters and hitting movie madness, or just rambling walks with window-shopping and going into the kind of bookstores where everything's in teetering stacks (I have a mostly used master's in library science, and perversely prefer booky chaos oftentimes) and poking around parks. I do go out in all weather. Rarely I might also enjoy a goth club or an author event or some such. I'm a seldom/light drinker, somewhat kinked but not tremendously drawn to play parties (nor 24/7), and a rabid atheist. I'm fairly shy although it doesn't always show. I'm xauenmurph on polymatchmaker.com and vitrioleuse on okcupid (and log into them almost never and quite seldom, respectively.) The institution of dating mostly gives me hives but mostly 'cuz of the baggage attached to that.

I think it's time to say hello and make it known that I'd like to find a girlfriend. I have a few friends with benefits (mostly men) and one woman with whom I've been in a long term relationship but she isn't currently "available" so I would like to find a girlfriend who would be available for some girl-time as friends and lovers.

I'm looking for someone smart, secure, active, creative, honest, healthy and maybe even a little kinky...

Ladies, I can be a lot of fun...if interested, PM me.
