After a nice brainstorming session on Sunday, here is a list of all we came up with!
Priority on this list went to locations with a preference for where local peeps would be hanging out - ie: social gatherings, outside a crowded restaurant, protests, landmarks, places w. a great view, and people who a likely to love us.
(in no particular order. It is a small city, after all)
1. Justin Herman Plaza. NUDE CYCLISTS will be gathering to protest dependence on fossil fuels. Check it out: sanfrancisco.worldnakedbikeride.org/. Naked putters, eh?!? Yup, nuff said.
2. Hayes Valley Park - cool place with lots of locals
3. GG Park - across from the De Young
4. O'Neils Irish Pub. 747 3rd St. Will be hosting a Beer tasting from 4-6pm
I detect an opportunity to score some points at this place... Hmm?? Does getting the bartender to play count as a O or P list celebrity?
5. Station 7 Firehouse. Yep, these be a house full of firemen! Word has it, they like us :)
6. Castro. Possible 2 locations:
First, in front of the Castro theatre. Though, I heard there's an incline in front of the theater that'd make mini-golf a *small* challeng
Second, the corner of 16th and Market, where (it seems like) 5 or 6 different streets intersect. Squat & Gobble, Baghdad cafe, Cafe Flore, and some gay bar w. a balcony are all on the corners of this intersection
7. Boogaloos. Most of us know its a cluster f*ck at all hours w. loads of hipsters
8. The Lusty (duh!). It has been mentioned that this location will require a bit of coordination beforehand. Anyone willing to do this?
9. Twin Peaks. The photo ops and easy peasy bus access are the selling pts on this one!
10. Legion of Honor. Great views.
11. Yerba Buena Gardens. Pacific Islander music fest in the park, should prove to be a big party! I recommend setting up right btwn the front of the waterfall fountain and the grass.
12. LGBT Center
13. UN Plaza / Civic Center
14. Mitchells Ice Cream
15. Dolores Park
and lastly, one that I think is very promising....
16. The Deathguild Thunderdome Fundraiser at the Ace Raceway or Junkyard (in Bayshore). Sent out an email to the organizers to see how they'd like to play some minigolf, or at the very least, wouldn't mind if we dropped in. Will post back w. details tomorrow or Wed!
Anyone game to do a Thunderdome match??
I had seriously thought Medjool should be the last round b/c it'd be stoopid fun, and just to screw w.'em. Though, if anyone read the article Marty posted about douchebags, you'd know why this location was nixed.
Ok, now vote!

Re: Proposed Route Stops - Vote now!
Tue, June 3, 2008 - 7:52 PMSince it is Scott's birthday, I think stopping at Trader Sam's and doing it up tiki style is a necessity. There are use to catering to mobs mashes as the asshole trolley's often stop there.
I won't know if I can make it until Friday- how does one sign on at such a late date? I have been very much out of the loop these days -

Re: Proposed Route Stops - Vote now!
Tue, June 3, 2008 - 8:43 PMOoh, I like the idea of another bar stop, esp in consideration of doing it up Tiki style!
Another reason a bar stop is impt is to give us time to recharge and use a bathroom.

We also forgot to add #17) Powell Street Cable Car turnaround. -

Re: Proposed Route Stops - Vote now!
Fri, June 6, 2008 - 1:46 PMBjork's "It's Oh So Quiet"
'Cruise to Union Square Musical with Fossil Fool'
Rock the Bike is going to be providing pedal powered sound for the
Union Square Musical, a public dance event.
Say you happened to be walking
through Union Square at 3:45 PM on June 7th.
Well you'd be in for a treat, as dozens of dancers in street clothing, pretending to be
average tourists and street sweepers, bust into a full-on choreographed
rendition of Bjork's 'It's Oh So Quiet.' !!!
Hello? That's awesome.
