My favorite dildo has a suction cup base which is how we attach the dildo to the harness. The problem is that, being rather flimsy, the suction cup sometimes will let go when things get vigorous.
I'm considering cutting off the suction cup with a razor and attaching the dildo to the "balls" by sliding the O-ring of the harness down the shaft, but I'm not sure if this would be better. Has anyone tried this?
The manufacturers of silicone dildos have the right idea by using flared bases, but it's very rare to find non-silicone dildos with them. My partner and I so prefer silicone lube that our silicone dildos (which are not compatible with silicone lube) have pretty much been retired.
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Dildo Attachment Issues
Wed, July 18, 2012 - 1:46 AMI wish I could help you with this one. I only use silicone dildos because of the ability to sterilize them.
Give us a link to the toy you have? Maybe someone else has one... -

Re: Dildo Attachment Issues
Wed, July 18, 2012 - 8:21 AMwe use the "realistic" toys with the suction cup.
(Ruby is correct: It is safer to use silicone toys)
we tend to use one of the older model strapons.
The kind that are a flat vinyl/leather front with elastic belt and elastic straps.
oddly, it is the best one for us. And, we do use it vigorously :)
we bought a newer leather model with adjusting straps.
We found that the band on it is rubber and the suction cup always pulls out.
we changed the ring to a metal ring. I can't remember the size (1.25 I believe..)
that metal ring does hold the suction cup toy.
One of these days we will make the switch to silicone.
Ruby, do you use the vacu-lock system? How do you like it?
we like the 'realistic" toys and haven't seen a silicone product that interest us....yet. -

Wed, July 18, 2012 - 8:25 PMThanks for the tip, Bob. I'll have to try and find a metal ring for the harness.

Thu, July 19, 2012 - 1:42 AMI do not use the vaculock system because I felt it was too limiting with the toys available.
A couple of silicone products to check out:
Vixen Creation dildos - including the VixSkin line - www.vixencreations.com/outlaw.php
Tantus makes some very nice dildos as well:

Wed, July 18, 2012 - 8:03 PMThanks Ruby. Here's a link to my current fave:
www.things4fun.com/basix-bi...ildo.aspx
I'm aware of the many advantages of silicone dildos and own several, including a few I made myself. I actually hope to go back to silicone dildos when I find a water-based lube that like as much as the silicone lube we're using.

Re: Dildo Attachment Issues
Wed, July 18, 2012 - 8:18 PMI don't think your idea is bad. If the suction cup is flexible though try puting it through the O-ring of the harness. The flare of the suction cup may be enough to hold the dildo with the O-ring -

Re: Dildo Attachment Issues
Fri, July 20, 2012 - 9:53 PMWe use a vac-u-lock and i am hooked. When ever i get a new toy we just cut a hole in the base so to fits the vac-u-lock. We have cut off the the suction cup and put a hole in it and it works great. Makes it very fun too . You can get very large toys and cut them down so they are manageable and can control it to work good on the strapon.....little
