Hello,
We will be bringing our 20-month old for her first Pennsic this year. Any suggestions on bath time? I can take her in the shower with me, but I'm afraid that she will try to drink the water (actually, I KNOW she will try to drink the water). We have a big ice-type bucket, but she just barely fits in that now. I'd rather not go out and buy a giant tub...do I have any other options?
Thanks,
dawn

Re: Bath time at Pennsic????
Wed, June 27, 2007 - 8:21 AMThe last few years we have been able to get someone making a town run to stop and get a cheap kiddie pool. Works not only for baths but for those HOT August days. We dump our cooler water in after rinsing the previous days dirt out and let that warm with the sun. It's nice to cool sore feet and for rinsing the Ghetti dust off. We've also given bathes in 18 gallon totes at other campsites and other SCA events when needed. Heat the water on teh camp stove or over the fire to temp (not too hot) and use that for washing and rinsing. We left the pools behind (or a fellow campmate took them?) I can't remember now?
Anyhow that is what we've done. -

Re: Bath time at Pennsic????
Wed, June 27, 2007 - 8:08 PMWe have a camp full of kids of various ages, boys and girls. We tried the totes bathtime but by the time wwe got them all to go throught he bath the ones that went in first were dirty again. We had a kiddie pool but it got filled with grass and dirt from the in and out nad back in that kids do. Our final solution was a soapy slip and slide. We had a large tarp that wasn't being used for anything and we laid it out on the slight hillside we had. We got it wet and rock free and we turned a cooler of ice water on it to get it wet. A little bit of biodegradable dish soap and a few more donated coolers of ice water, plus some other water clean left over water peole had and we got the kids clean before they were aware it was bathtime. This may not work with a 20 month old, come to think of it... maybe the kiddy pool is the best idea for you. But the slip and slide turned out to work for grown ups too (plus everyone was in swim suits so we avoided any uncomforatbel mixed messages to the kids. They were clean and tired, too so they all went to bed rather easily after all that.
