Re: what i heard today
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 10:20 AMI think it's a better long term plan to treat the causes than the symptoms. The marriage counseling sounds like a good idea, to determine if there is anything to save there.
I doubt any television personality has much business saying anybody else lives in a fantasy world. -

Tue, April 1, 2008 - 10:25 AMi think you need to have your head examined for watching the 700 club when you could be tribing. -

Wed, April 2, 2008 - 6:58 AMand if i could get the cat to either do my chores of tribe for me i wouldnt have a problem at all . But the cat is so lazy. she wont make my morning coffee or anything.. all she does is sit on my bed side table and stare at me.. i think i should start wearing my aluminum foil beanie to bed so she cant put thoughts in my head.. or put one on her so she cant transmit.. -

Re: what i heard today
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 12:05 PMEveryone believes that someone is more screwed up than they are .... so they offer advice on what to do ... seek counseling, seek .... something. The bottom line is that 9 times out of 10, if it's not illegal or immoral, it's a person's entertainment is a matter of choice and not open for discussion (unless someone opens it for discussion).

Re: what i heard today
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 1:59 PMFor most of us, online chatting is a new way to socialize and meet people from far away lands and all that good stuff. But, I can see where it could be a problem if someone is not dealing with their family and "real-life" situation. It sounds like this woman might have a problem with her husband, but then again, maybe he's just a schmuck and she doesn't want to deal with him for legitimate reasons. No one on the outside can ever judge, especially through second-hand knowledge such as your example.
But, that being said, my sister is constantly making fun of my mother for her online friends. My mother has been stuck at home taking care of her mother and rarely having a chance to leave the house. So, I don't think my mother is in a fantasy land, but simply utilizing the only opportunity she has available for socialization. -

Re: what i heard today
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 2:03 PMI think it's entirely possible that some people are stuck in a fantasy world and do need help, I'm also personally aware of some people who are wrecking their relationships with too much time online. However to say that all online friends are fantasy and an escape from real life is quite simply the talk of people who have a woeful lack of understanding of modern technology and communication. As in the case of Heather's mother, she is utlising the net as a tool when nothing else is open to her which is surely more healthy than sitting at home staring at a wall and having no external communication whatsoever?
