Housekeeping

topic posted Fri, February 29, 2008 - 12:16 PM by  Sarah
Hi everyone,

I don't say a lot on this Tribe because I feel it my job to Moderate from a distance and not influence the discussions but lately there has been a bad atmosphere and many regular members have commented on this to me in private. As a result I have decided to undertake a little housekeeping and return the Tribe to it's "moderated" status. We recently have had a large number of alts and trolls join the Tribe and I will be removing them within the coming days. If you are removed from this Tribe and feel it was an unfair decision then by all means feel free to PM me regarding this.

I hope this will herald a change for the Tribe and make it the fun place it used to be.

Any complaints please let me know in private, and I'll tell you to sit on it ;o)

    Let the witch hunt begin.

    This is how it works.

The trolls and alts who were the first to establish themselves on Tribe somehow achieve the status of "real" people even though they are trolls and alts.

When new trolls and alts arrive to challenge the status quo, the old trolls and alts pitch a fit and complain that the new trolls and alts are spoiling the vibe.

If the new trolls and alts fight back, the old trolls and alts involve the TOU GUY.

Meanwhile, tribe.net's membership continues to dwindle and it has to beg for handouts from the old trolls and alts to keep it in business.

If you were to actually clear out ALL the trolls and alts in your tribe, the membership would be reduced by more than just me or one or two other alts that the old timers hate. Surely, half your members would be gone, including some of the people who are probably the ones doing the bitching to you in private.

If there is anything the old alts and trolls can't stand, it is some newcomer who holds up the mirror to them...

I think she's getting rid of the annoying troublemakers, not every single alt. Although I may be wrong because man this woman can clean.

Annoying troublemakers, invariably, means the new annoying troublemakes who are upsetting the status quo established by the old annoying troublemakers.

Witch hunt? It's her tribe, she can kick us all out and chat to herself about knitting if she wants! To be honest I think she has been a good mod, a lot of them get involved over every little thing but she's let a lot of threads go past their sell by date without interfering and she's also made it clear that she is only doing this as she has had requests, popular opinion rules :)

"If you are removed from this Tribe and feel it was an unfair decision then by all means feel free to PM me regarding this."

    ________

So, what you are saying is that you will entertain private, secret complaints, act upon those complaints in secret without asking the subject of the complaint for his or her side of the story, and just boot them based upon secret accusations. Guilty until proven innocent. But, being a wise and all powerful wizard, you will entertain pleas to be readmittted.

"Guilty until proven innocent, but if you confess your crimes and beg for mercy, we may show you mercy."

Our forefathers went to war against the British to abolish this kind of system of government.

Where is some friggin tea? I feel like throwing tea into the harbor. No wait, that was over taxation without representation. Never mind.

Okay, fine, don't offer the cake.

I'll just sit here and munch from this can of "Heart Healthy Mix" nuts.

they are quite good. Less salt, but still tasty. who needs all that salt, anyhow?

      I especially like the pecans.

Do you say "pee-cans" or "pee-cons"?

Pecan pie, now that is the best.

      Pie and ice cream.

      Now!

'Do you say "pee-cans" or "pee-cons"?'

Actually, I say pi-kahn, like "pick on", with the stress on the "con" part. I guess I'm weird <lol>. Or I just don't want to think of pee and my nuts in the same breath.

I know a woman who says pea-carn and it's well annoying, she also says her daughter teaches pea-arno. She thinks she's posh but she's just a cock. Sorry, cake ;)

James - I agree with your annoyance. Not posh in the slightest. Seems a wee bit low-brow...

Grr - if I don't receive the pertinent info soon, I may see you next weekend ; )

I've NEVER heard someone say "pea-arno" in my life. What dialect *is* that?!

Denisey, do let me know a couple of days in advance, so I can bake <g>. Eating chocolate *has* to be more fun than a funeral, eh (not to make light, of course <hugs>).

On the topic of housekeeping, I really need to give the dog a bath.

                I'd guess egotish.

I will let you know by, shall we say, Wednesday? Been waiting on an email since last weekend. Starting to feel a little ambivalent about the shebang.

<<I really need to give the dog a bath.>>
Is that what the kids are calling it these days? ; Þ
