She does it for all the world to see..and deletes it just in time so tribe.net doesn't call her on it. She is a piece of cake let me tell you..2 years I have put up with her shit..she needs a spanking!

alcohol and dance...especially belly dance

Last year I witnessed a very sad performance. One of the many belly dance acts seen at the Kismet Belly Dance festival was a woman who got on stage and belly danced seemingly (I hope) intoxicated. She was very sloppy and began to sing along with the music ON STAGE...You could hear OH MY GOD throughout the audience. It was really sad. I hope she eventually got drunk enough to forget what she had done. It truly was a disgrace. It looked almost like someone slipped her a mickey.
Personally I can't concentrate to good after a margarita, much less dance. I actually don't drink unless I am having one at dinner on a date and believe me this is really rare.I don't like the feeling of being out of control. 4 years ago I had to change the policies of my troupe. After a disastrous performance at the Arts Festival..which directly reflected on ME, I put a halt to the chugging of Ouzo before going on stage to ease nerves. 3 of my troupe members who drank VERY heavily ( one husband makes their own beer) danced so poorly I received some very negative comments from the audience..It was ugly and to this day I am still paying for it. I believe alcohol closes the third eye...which we dance with!!!
Dancing while typsie or advocating the consumption of alcohol as the main factor in a gathering is pretty stupid. I didn't post this in any belly dance tribes because there are so many dancers who advocate drinking..it is in many of the posts often more than subjects relating to dance..It is also very fattening, without any benefit, something I try to avoid . Hey don't get me wrong I'm no angel (gasp) I have my share of downfalls, I just make it a point not to let it interfere with my work or relationships (a big heavy) I don't think it belongs in dance except at the party after the show.hee hee Hope this makes sense...what thinks you all?

What do you do about mean women? Women who use a tremendous amount of effort to harass you, slander you on tribe, make fun of you publicly and gather an army of like minds to defeat you at every corner. Women who accuse you of the very thing they do? Stalk you and harass you. Women who use the power of their hubby an x highway patrolman to get what they want..to label me crazy! Women who use tribe for their own personal vendetta..and to portray themselves as a dancer when in fact they do not have the discipline to be a dancer... women who steal your photographs..who try to squash your soul. Women who publicly on tribe profess to practicing witchcraft to get rid of said author. ("along with other women in my town") . What the F*#@ do you do about these types of bad behaviors? What makes other women support this behavior? Just curious....

Howz about the people (usually women I am ashamed to say) who have seen a movie before so they feel a need to narrate the action as, or before it occurs in the theater. "Oh watch this! He is going to get even with so and so now, you'll see!" One reason why renting movies is better than going to the theater: that and the popcorn and drinks are far less expensive....

Boyfriend/husband/lover whisperer

I'm thinking right now that maybe there needs to be a specialization of "people whisperer" for specific "boyfriend/lover/husband whisperer." What do you women think?

Like this one of mine, well its only a beginning thing (barely into the boyfriend category) and I know not to expect too much, but this is at least the third time he's said "oh, lets go away for a night or two," such as to the mountains. And that he'll call me and we'll plan it out. And then the call never comes. The day when we'd go away, its 7pm, and still no call. (It doesn't happen that I can't readily call him, as he has no phone of his own, just one I can leave a message on, and he's used the "it must not work right" excuse already).

He tells me "I think about you every day, first thing when I wake up," but then.... wouldn't it make sense then to keep one's word to call and follow through on plans? I mean I *can* be more than just a fantasy. The reality has so much more to offer. ;)

(And BTW, when he does call days late, instead of saying something I just turn into a little purring kitten... I haven't had any thing like that sort of attention for many years after all... so maybe *I* need some whispering to as well.)

Yes, they, these "significant others" need some training from time to time, ennit? I bet this sort of topic was going to come up on this tribe sooner rather than later. So here it is. <g>

September will be most challenging ...
Athene's Weekly Message

This year of 2006 has been a very challenging year for everyone. This
month of September will be the most challenging so far. With many hard
Astrological Aspects as well as a Lunar Eclipse on the 7th, Solar
Eclipse on the 22nd, and the Autumnal Equinox, it would be best not to
have many expectations this month. This will be a topsy- turvy energy
month with emotions running high.

I find meditation to be difficult and different when we have the
Eclipse energies going on and I see old patterns emerging that are no
longer serving the highest good. Staying positive may be difficult.

Saying prayers, doing rituals and anchoring as much light as possible
will help the planet and her peoples more than anything else currently
going on.

There will be energetic drains of physical, emotional and mental
energy so it is important to pace yourself, and care for yourself, to
remain well.

Eclipses not only affect the weather worldwide but also the emotions
of humans, animals and all consciousness. There will be unexpected
upheaval and natural disasters during September and those who are
already extremists will move into full swing with their insanity.

Lightworkers must be aware that what they are feeling is on a vast
scale and try not to personalize it too much. Remember that we live in
many alternate realities and worlds all at once and that during
Eclipses we are subject to feeling all of the distortion going on in
the material world.

Bad behaviour or annoying habits: is there a difference?

Do you think that bad behaviour is a habit or a conscious act? That is, is bad behaviour something that develops over a long time to the point that it is unrecognisable or begins to be seen as good behaviour? Or, is bad behaviour an isolated occurrence. A way of receiving attention because there are limited resources for good behaviour.

One example that comes to mind is the behaviour of parents committees towards fund raising for school or club events that are time wasters. Why do parents (like myself) have to sell boxes of chocolates and when suggesting something more creative and productive are told it won’t work because it requires too much organization and effort? And then, when we protest about selling the boxes of chocolates we are asked for a considerable financial donation even though we have already paid hefty fees to be there in the first place. This is my rant for the day. Any others?

Who or what is your role model?

If we are attempting to influence the behaviour of others then who or what influences our behaviour? This is not meant to be a philosophical or theological discussion but an ‘off the top of your head’ or a’ knee jerk’ reaction to the same questions we are asking. Could the behaviours of the people who concern us the most be of a similar quality?

Off the top of my head I can honestly say my family influences me the most. They are always there for me when I need them the most and they tolerate lots of rubbish from me as well as appreciate the good things. Without my family I could not put my best foot forward in the public arena and come to think about it… without me, they would be a bit lost too.

So, whom do you appreciate and why and for what reason do you receive appreciation in return?

Community arts officers

I have a problem with community arts officers employed by local governments who have no interest in dance. I know that dance is not to everyone’s liking, but someone who is employed in that capacity should at least do his or her homework. How can this attitude/behaviour be addressed amicably?

To: President of the United States of America
A PETITION DECLARING PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH TO BE A HORSE'S ASS

WHEREAS, George W. Bush's ill-conceived war on Iraq is an irresponsible, destructive and unnecessary means of enforcing the spirit and letter of United Nations Resolution 1441, and;

WHEREAS, the Bush administration has shown blatant disregard for the wishes of a majority of the American people to seek approval of any military action through the United Nations Security Council prior to engaging in any invasion of Iraq, and;

WHEREAS, in the process of invading Iraq without United Nations Security Council approval George W. Bush has alienated the peoples of the world, broken ties with allies, and divided the people of the United States of America along fierce ideological lines, and;

WHEREAS, the stated goals of the Bush administration have shifted throughout the current crisis from "enforcing United Nations Resolution 1441" to "disarmament of weapons of mass destruction" to "liberation of the Iraqi people/regime change", and

WHEREAS, the Bush administration provided no legitimate evidence that Iraq is in posession of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons prior to invading when evidence presented by adminstration Secretary Colin Powell before the U.N. Security Council has in fact been soundly debunked, and;

WHEREAS, the war on Iraq will cause harm to the people of the United States of America and potentially the entire world for generations by increasing the chance of terrorism against Western targets, decreasing American trade opportunities throughout the world and heightening the military resolve against the United States of America of those nations not part of the "Coalition of the Willing";

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the citizens of the world do hereby proclaim that George W. Bush is a Horse's Ass.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to George W. Bush, his wife, and his mother. So there.

WE THE SIGNERS OF THIS PETITION ENDORCE THE ABOVE PRINCIPLES OF THIS PETITION, AND AFFIX OUR NAMES HEREON IN SUPPORT OF THE DECLARATION THAT GEORGE W. BUSH IS A HORSE'S ASS.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
