Re: Can you recommend drought resistant plants for urban parkway project in Los Angeles?
Sat, August 1, 2009 - 8:34 AMIt depends on what you want the plants for, but I'm a huge fan of cacti and succulents. Doesn't get much more resistant than those, they're certainly beautiful, and they make a lot of sense in a climate like LA's. Aloe's are beautiful and grow huge and have all sorts of uses. As for cacti, there's all sorts of beautiful kinds, I'm partial to San Pedro's myself, heehee, for a variety of reasons, not least of which is that they're beautiful and grow huge.

Re: Can you recommend drought resistant plants for urban parkway project in Los Angeles?
Tue, August 18, 2009 - 10:36 AMI'm with the aloes and succulents crowd, although I'm way out of my zone in LA....I'm in Vancouver. Agave, eucalyptus, paloverde, bougainvillea and pittosporum? bougainvillea makes one hell of a barrier if you want that, nasty if you don't. Xeriscaping is the keyword you want when searching out these plants. Native plants whenever possible!
Death to the monoculture lawn.
