When I lived in Hawaii , we caught the water from the metal roof and it fed into a huge dough boy swimming pool. It was then gravity fed to the house, thru a filter, and used for washing dishes and showering.
I live in Oregon now, and havent seen this practice used much. My partner says he thinks the pvc leaches out into the water, and maybe bad for the garden, or us to consume the garden plants.
Any ideas out there? Whats the best catchment for Oregon? Ive got some rain barrels, but those are only 50 gallons. Those are plastic also.

Re: Swimming pool water catchment
Sat, June 13, 2009 - 5:14 PMthe cheapest way to do it is usually to get recycled
*food grade* plastic barrels.
usually you can find them on craigslist for $15 or so.
if you drill holes in the side
and link several together
at a descending rate of height -
it's possible to gather a decent amount of rainwater.
