so while in peru i met this nice young couple. the guy was originaly from toas new mexico and he said something that just struck a nerve... we were talking about peyote... and he said that they smoked it in the pueblo... he was adamant about it... like it was a fact... and i tried to debate saying that smoeking peyote... is not a way to get off... and he was still adamant about it... ( i hate that situation where the other person wont hear it...) he said that on the taos pueblo he knew for a fact that they smoked peyote... he was so certain... i am going to give him the shadow of the doubt and ask if any one knows something i dont here?
i have doubts that hes right at all... and that peyote smokeing is somthing stoners do becasue they are dumband they think you can smoke anything... and that this is some myth he was told when young... but if not and they do smoke peyote ceremonialy on the toas pueblo i would like to know...

dont know abotu smoking it i think this plant doesnt want to be smoked but who knows, what i do know though is that if you have high quality mescaline HCL you can smoke that, in its salt form too, as freebase is an oil coudl be hard to handle so maybe there is some truth to it but i still wouldnt do it, its like when people say you can smoke mushrooms.

i know... its a crazy thought... im just wondering if some cultures actualy do it... of if the guy was just imature and trying to convince me because he was insecure about it thinking something someone was proveing wrong...
people act like that when you dispell thier myths...

Yep, dear friends, cacti is smokable - after all mescaline HCL is a natural amphetamine and most amphetamines are smokable. It gives a mild buzz and a wonderful clear light, but that's about it - none of the kewl coloured lights and visionary pictures when the stuff is consumed. In fact, HCL or sulphate crystals can also be tooted - I don't know what the effects actually are, it is just that I read about it on thenook..org Whether in fact the locals actually do smoke peyote is another question - I think not; it seems wasteful and peyote must be an increasingly rare resource. So much better to consume the full whack and get whacked, methinks.

Yeah, the ignorance runs deep... Almost always the first thing that people who have never taken the sacrament ask me is, "Do you smoke it?" This comes from enlightened and intelligent individuals who I thought would know better. After I explain things a bit the next question is, "Can I come to a meeting?" After I explain a bit more, and maybe actually invite them to a meeting, the next question is, "When can i leave and get the f*** out of this tipi?" Sheesh, everyone wants everything to be so easy....

My question then becomes, "How come the current generation has no desire to sacrifice of themselves to get the help and healing they need?"

      Silly Stonerz........ or..... Prozac Nation?

that and addicitive chemicals...lol...like mothers milk...
did you know that mothers milk has natural opiates in it?
this is one of the ways addicition manifiests in the first place... our body uses withdrawl symptoms from the nautral breasty opiates to get us to feed our selves it causes slight pain and discomfot and we cry, not so much because we are hungery but because we are withdrawing from the milk dope...lol
so our body created that system as a way for us to keep doing things that felt good that were good for us... when it happens that we are takeing too much of a good thing then it becomes a problem of addicition, and your right that can be metted out with mature responses to things as an adult...
but it starts with how you ween your child lol...

Betaendorphins are also produced through sport, another disguise of Addicton to Mama´s breast :)

As a grown up i think we should learn again, to balance our chemistry through our body own produced DMT and Harmalin. So we are back to where we started before we come addicted to Mamas Breast. A real grown up Person, Feets on the Ground and Head in the Sky ....

Long time ago, in 1981, I tried smoking a small part of a dried peyote cactus. It had threshold effects, but it was not really anything worth or compared to the effects of eating it. It reaaly was not worth it. I just wanted to try it at the time.

I went to this high school in colorado named Arapahoe High School, The arapahoe's in the Wind River Reservation come down everyother year to do a pow-wow. I had a friend who was walking in the halls when they were packing up and leaving and one of the Elder cheifs gave my friend some peyote. He told him to fast for three days in solitude in the wood/plains and then SMOKE it. It was either a miscomunication, or it could have been another facet of the peyote ways to smoke it. Its more or less the medicine speaking in which ways it needs to be used. so just listne and mabey you'll hear you need to smoke it some time, just go to the medicine with impecability, humblness and a pure-open heart and it will teach your everything, from different languages, instruments, universal quanderies and how to realate to the earth.
    Bless ya all
    david

ps my friend did smoke it, didnt fast and went at it like a drug, he was a avid pot smoker and said it only made him feel stoned, but thats perfect for where he was at.just another blessing from the medicine,

If there's any truth to that story.. I'd be interested to know the name of this "Elder cheif" who acted in a completely irresponsible manner by giving medicine to high school students on campus. My friends and relatives at Wind River would like to know...

It was to familiarize himself with the spirit of the Peyote and to Cleanse in the Peyote Smoke... He will later be told to eat it if he continues down this path... But first you may be told to smoke it... or use it like a smudge and bathe in the smoke...

Okay...well I've been active in NAC meetings for over 18 years and have never seen it smoked. One of my long time friends is a full blooded Pueblo from the Toledo family, very traditional and knowledgeable, a Powwow organizer/elder and respected long time NAC member. He sweated and attended meetings with us for years before moving back to his tribe, he never once mentioned his people (or anyone else) smoking Peyote. Many people seem to think the more Peyote eaten, the more spiritual one becomes. They are missing the point, Peyote is a sacrament that is only one of the many parts that make up a NAC meeting, the main part being prayer.

Aloha from Maui~ hey I have to say this: I've sat up in NAC meetings on the pueblo & and I know personally Roadmen & the families from the Pueblo. AND NO THEY DON'T!

I'm thinking this bugger is hanging around some *renegade* I'm thinking of 2 personalities. Taos Puebloans are divided in the use of Peyote. So it may be a political act to misguide an outsider to illegitmize the Fireplaces there. SWM?

Hey also, wanted to introduce myself to you LLB. I'm a member of the Santa Fe chapter going on 14 years now, but am now making a home here on Maui with my DH Ben & DS Wilne. I appreciate the work that you do & always *go see* your page to get some insight sometimes. I miss attending ceremonies. Much Aloha to you~cleo
