For those of you who I haven't called personally we are having a PDF pre-game "get your party hat on" shin-dig at my house on Saturday. Since we have all decided that doing an "official" theme camp would be too taxing, I thought it might be nice for us to at the very least get a chance to know each other prior to getting there since many of you don't know each other. We are looking at about 30 people in our anti-camp (give or take).

I know I'm super excited and I know all of you are too. If you are interested in coming let me know via PM or give me a call. We will be getting started in the late afternoon early evening. I know some of you have some engagements that will cause you to have to come early or late. I figure this will be a revolving door kind of event and you can come when it's good for you.

Again while we are not an "official" theme camp we will still be putting up shade and we have a burn barrel, propane grill, and Marcus is talking about getting a keg for those who are interested. He said that he will be asking $10 for those who are over 21 and want to drink. Please be prepared to give him $ on Saturday if you are intersted. If you have any shade or anything you want to add to the camp please let me know asap.

I can't wait to see all your beautiful shining faces!

WOOHOO!

With the exception of one bouncer at the door basically doing his job with ID (who BTW later redeemed himself later by helping Marcus out big time with keys locked in the car) it was great. Now, it wasn't as sexy good times as the wearhouse but they more then made up for it. Keith's visuals were great on the tent top, King Britt, Jay Shok and Lee (and the drum quartet) made me shake my booty till I would practically fall over. It was so super nice to see everyone. I can't believe I almost didn't go. MUAH to all.

At the age of 11 his family and him immigrated to Beer Sheva, Israel, where he lived most of his life. At the age of 15 he started to take guitar lessons and by the age of 18 he was already leading a very succesful Israeli death metal band called CEREBRAL COMA, which had a mayor success in the international and national underground scene. In 1992, Emiliano hooked up with Ziv Matushka, another pioneer in the Israeli electronic music scene and, together, they started to experiment with more Industrial music and eventually writing Goa and Psy trance. Ziv joined P.Cok, and Emiliano continued his project as ENERTOPIA. The first single by Enertopia was released in 1996 by B.N.E Israel in a compilation called DESTINATION ISRAEL, and after a few months he was signed by KREMBO records. The first full length album was called MAGIC FOR ETERNITY, released in 1997, followed by the second album called FACE ADAPTOR which was cowritten with Yuli Fershtat AKA B.L.T, Perfect Stranger. In between 1996 and 1998 Enertopia have released two full albums and numerous singles. Now Enertopia is back with new material in the studio for his next album DIVINE under ORB records, already collaborating with talented artists around the globe such as A.P.E from Israel, OVERDREAM from Ukraine, LOKI from Amsterdam, Aural Invasion from Denmark. and more surprises to come.

If you are interested in joining us PM me for dates and time for meetings and general information. We are asking that everyone who wishes to participate in our camp come up with both a tent and an tunnel to connect to our maze. We are asking that each tent and tunnel be unique and provide some sort of sensory experience. Some examples so far are a Zounds tent and I am trying to work out bringing the moon bounce. We are going to have a meeting in the near future and Jenn has nominated herself as camp ticket getter. If you are interested PM me for further direction.

WE FOUND OUT 24HRS AGO THE UNDERGROUND DANCE SCENE HAS BEEN UNDER INGESTION BY CHANNEL 10 NBC UNDERCOVER REPORTS. THEY HAVE ASKED FOR AN INTERVIEW,THIS IS OUR STATEMENT. STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN!!!

It goes without saying that electronic dance music is more a part of the mainstream now than it ever has been in the past. However, our culture – that is to say, the culture surrounding electronic dance music – is perpetually marginalized and stigmatized. Members of our community have been rejected, discriminated against, and even physically victimized by the mainstream; they are forced feel like outcasts in their own world. This fact is ugly and unpleasant but it is the truth and it has been nothing but detrimental to our youth. It is for this reason that we do the events that we do: we provide an outlet, a home, for those would otherwise be culturally homeless. We welcome people of all races, creeds and sexual orientations without the slightest judgment. We do not ask that you join our culture, we do not even ask that you like our culture; but we humbly ask that you recognize it for what it is: a culture, founded upon a communal reverence for arts and music, with nothing but the most positive values as its moral core. The central tenet of our culture is P.L.U.R., an acronym that stands for Peace, Love, Unity and Respect, and these values are the cornerstone of the way we live our lives.

With my company, Tru Skool Productions, I have sought to do nothing but be the embodiment of this credo. As is evidenced by all of our print promotion, I have worked in cooperation with numerous charities on numerous occasions; my company has sponsored – and I have personally participated, on my company’s behalf – in walkathons and marches; I have held clothing, food and toy drives on behalf of the facility which has been gracious enough to provide us with a location at which to hold our events. Many of the young men and women who are currently overseas with the United States Armed Services would, if they were at home, support what we do; quite a few of them are even absentee members of my staff, being entertainers or security. This company has gone to great lengths to give love and support to these individuals. We have sent them letters, music, and video footage; we stay up until all hours of the night so that we can talk to them online; we do everything in our power to make sure that they know that they are in our thoughts and loved. I feel confident in saying that any of these young soldiers would state without hesitation that one of the freedoms for which they are fighting as we speak is the freedom to live within their culture – our culture – openly and without fear.

Many people in this community consider me to be somewhat of a champion of disenfranchised youth. I look to what the individual has to offer, not the way in which she may be perceived by the world at large. I am, as it were, very much an equal opportunity employer – there are members of my staff who are gay, minorities, physically disabled. I freely give these individuals the opportunity for acceptance; I give them the opportunity to participate in an environment where they need not fear prejudice or discrimination. And for these people – for everyone on whose behalf I do what I do – these events are of tantamount importance and significance. Our culture is central to our lives; without it some of us would have nothing.

My job, then, is to ensure to the best of my ability that these people have the liberty to be who they want to be. My company puts a great deal of time and effort into creating a secure environment at my events. We are very much aware of the fact that Lancaster Hall is located in a neighborhood of Philadelphia that has a very high crime rate; we have such concern for the well-being of our patrons that with no difficulty we have been able to put together a volunteer security staff comprised of professional bouncers and guards from multiple other mainstream clubs and concert venues. On countless occasions my security team has joked that my events are the easiest to manage that they’ve ever encountered, in stark contrast to their other positions at mainstream clubs and venues where extreme acts of violence and aggression are the norm. In nine years we have had only two violent outbursts. The first, instigated not by one of my patrons but by a local inhabitant of the neighborhood, occurred outside the venue, after the event had already ended, with the majority of the patrons already gone from the premises. In response to the second, in which only one punch was thrown, my security team immediately ejected the guilty parties and banned them from all future events; furthermore, so as forestall even the possibility of further violence, the event was shut down three and a half hours before its scheduled ending. Unfortunately, it is impossible to have total control. But at every event we take all the precautions that are within our power to insure that these incidents do not occur. At the door, security conducts an extensive search of everyone who enters the building; I employ both male and female security guards so that no one is excluded from these procedures. In addition, my staff is instructed to be a formidable presence in the crowd, so as to make it known that we are watching everything that goes on in the building. Public announcements are made at random intervals throughout the night, by both staff and entertainers, stating in no uncertain terms what behavior is and is not acceptable. Practically speaking, my security and I do absolutely everything we can.

There is, of course, the issue of illegal drugs. It would be misleading of me to say that there are none; however, they are neither condoned nor tolerated. As I mentioned before, everyone who enters Lancaster Hall for one of my events is thoroughly searched. Individuals who are caught in possession of illegal drugs and alcohol, using illegal drugs and alcohol, or distributing illegal drugs and alcohol are not permitted to enter the venue, or they are immediately ejected and permanently banned from any Tru Skool-related events. We do not confiscate drugs because that is not our job. It is not our place to confiscate, we are not law enforcement; but it is very much our duty to prevent negative elements from infiltrating our events, and we take every measure to do so. Unfortunately, drugs are very much a part of society as a whole, from homes to schools to entertainment, and we cannot do away with their presence entirely; but my company does everything in its power to keep them away. Know that everyone who attends a Tru Skool event is, to the best of our abilities, safe and cared for: because, in fact, I do care, very much.

The fact of the matter is that the persecution our culture currently endures is no different from the persecution to which every other major subculture has been subjected. Just as the hippies in the sixties persisted in the face of adversity to earn their place in history, so shall we; our way of life may be new and different to you but that does not make it wrong. And it is clear that society has begun to accept our music, even if they have not accepted our culture. Superstar DJs are the new rock stars. They tour with major rock bands; they are featured in commercials, movies and television shows; they have performed at political events and the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Their presence is felt in the global sphere. Tru Skool has been honored to be a small part of this growing influence: we have brought talent from three different continents, seven different countries, and twenty different states to a crowd who may never have had the opportunity to experience such international culture. Devoted fans have traveled just as far to hear the music they love. We may be a minority now, but we are strong and we are growing, and all I ask is the right to continue to contribute to the way of life that we love.

I’ll see you on the dancefloor.

Respectfully,
Mickey Fronick

Enya Sex

By Judah Pollack

My friend was upset, haggard looking, fingers fidgeting with the brim of the striped straw hat he’d taken to wearing under the misapprehension that it was cool.

“What is it?” I asked.

He sighed, stared at his iced tea in the sun. “It’s Tear Down The Walls.”

That was the name of his girlfriend. Actually, Tear Down The Walls was her Playa name but she’d taken to using it in the real world. On the Playa she now goes by Jill.

“What’s wrong with Tear Down?”

My friend shrugged rather hopelessly. “She likes Enya Sex.”

“Feral:” I said, “having become wild from a state of domestication.” I knew it was a random statement. But I’d thought about this for a while. Allow me to explain.

Enya is that Celtic musician who was big ten or fifteen years ago, kind of faux sensitive music, ethereal vocals, swelling strings and songs with titles like “Nightingale’s Bosom,” “Guinevere’s Heart,” and “Tear Down the Walls.”

Most men are familiar with the phenomenon of Enya Sex. I first encountered it in college. The girl’s roommate is kicked out, Christmas lights turned on, incense lit. She bends over the stereo and you’re thinking nice position; let’s remember to come back to that. Then the sound of those strings, like fairies jumping on flower petals. There’s flowing water and suddenly the voice of an angel giving thanks for her wings.

An hour before this same girl was in the Di Phi lounge spanking her girlfriend’s denim-clad ass. Now she’s ushering Gaia into her bed.

Your first thought is, “I can’t get hard to this.” Ha! Not a problem. This is college. Your second thought is, “I can’t cum to this.” That is true. Climaxing to Enya would be like cumming in Mother Theresa’s mouth.

Apologies, I’ll give you a moment to wipe that image from your mind.

Men don’t climax to Enya. We just pretend too, wait for the girl to go to the bathroom, then jerk off really fast.

You can tell a lot about a relationship by the music associated with the sex.

I had Depeche Mode sex. That was hot; though I was always afraid she was going to kill herself afterwards.

Pink Floyd sex can be good but it gets a little intense, goes on a little too long, and there tends to be little to much screaming.

Rolling Stones sex is good, clean fun; no tears, no sweet nothings, just some banging, slapping and a little bit ‘o biting. And when it’s over you go get a burger and fries.

I do not recommend Tori Amos. That’s the kind of sex that in-the-closet-gay boys have with their I’d-rather-not-be-doing-this girlfriends. In that vein Bob Dylan is also a rather awkward erotic troubadour. Though, if hippie Berkeley girls are your thing…

But if you really want to get it on nothing beats psy-trance for head-in-the-pillow ass-in-the-air who-are-you-again? sex. Turn it up loud, blot out the world and live in the layers. Just don’t try to keep up with the music because you might have a heart attack. A little psy-trance sex will make you wish you had paid more attention to those quiet girls with dyed black hair who wrote on their jeans and killed the world with their eyes and listened to hard-core girl bands you’d barely heard of like Veruca Salt.

Yet none of these are the phenomenon of Enya Sex. I don’t know if women still scroll to Enya per se for their romantic interludes. Perhaps they have a favorite Native American flutist, or a playlist of the world’s most popular arias given ambient backbeats. In the end it’s all Enya Sex. The question is why does this phenomenon exist?

Think of the college situation. It was a random hook-up. We were both being a little bit slutty.

(That’s a word the sex positive community has trouble with but honestly, if we’ve just met and we’re climbing into bed, or a bathroom, it’s not negative or positive, it’s slutty.)

So, there we are; a slutty little hook-up. This is the very thing a young princess is taught never to do. On one nightstand sits guilt. On the other nightstand sits shame. I’m in the middle, the tempter, the devil, the poor horny schnook. Caught in this dark wood the princess goes to her music and reaches for a talisman, a protective medallion, to walk through the darkness, Enya.

The music is divine light, purity itself. The music fills the room with meaning. What it all means this horny boy couldn’t tell you, but there is the distinct sense that it all means something. Like a bad movie using good music to give its love story gravitas, women reach for Enya to deepen an act they fear is shallow. Enya creates the illusion that one is not merely making bones but is in fact making love. Enya Sex is a phenomenon because it allows women to feel “clean” while doing something “dirty.”

And that’s the problem. The princess doesn’t need a talisman. The wood is not dark. Too many young women are taught to believe that sex is dirty and thus feel the need to make it clean. Reaching for Enya and her purifying sound begins with the assumption that sex is dirty. Enya sex is sex stripped of its vitals. Enya Sex is sex being put in a little box with a bow and set afloat on a babbling brook. Enya sex is the taming of sex.

Classic Gilgamesh myth, harlot woman tames wild man through her control of sex. There is this powerful idea that there is meaning in taming things. That’s why men hate Enya sex. They’re being told to reign themselves in, that to move slowly is the only meaningful way. Enya Sex is ass-spanking, incense burning college girl trying to act like she doesn’t have the same ravenous desire as the horny schnook beside her.

But why can’t the girl be ravenous as well, untamed, out of control? Why isn’t she taught that the divine exists within head-in-the-pillow ass-in-the-air psy-trance as much as hand-over-the-heart Enya? A woman reaching for Enya is like a woman binding her own feet. She must learn there is just as much meaning in arching her back, beating her fists and letting out a growl.

Feral: having become wild from a state of domestication. That’s a good journey for any woman to undertake.

So I told my sad, straw hat wearing friend, “Enya Sex is putting you both in a box. It’s as difficult as cumming in Gangaji’s mouth.”

Sorry, that one wasn’t much better. I went on.

“This is what you’ve got to do. Make a playlist. Start with Enya but then segue into something like Pink Floyd’s “Great Gig in the Sky” where the woman’s all hollering unintelligibly but full of pathos. It might give her some ideas. Move on to Depeche Mode, any song will do. See, you’re staying soft and quiet but building the intensity. Then try “Gimme Shelter” by The Stones, that prowling guitar in the beginning. Then it’s all psy-trance.

“She’ll be feral by then. You’ll feel heroic as Gilgamesh. It’ll be as easy as cumming in Julia Childs’ mouth.

Doh!

It is a day meant for forgiveness, atonement, freeing of debts, purification & celebration.

For those of you who know me you know that we have an annual tubing trip down the Delaware. This has been an annual tradition for about a decade for me. Every year we usually wait till the end of the summer and go right before everyone scatters in the wind in the fall, but the past 2 years the weather has been crappy. So we decided that since a bunch of us are unable to make it to the Gaian Mind summer festival for various reasons that we would move it up to June. This is one of the most fun things we do each summer and really gives you 4 whole hours to chill out with some great friends and just be.
So first things first, who is interested in going? Second, if so which works better for you weekend or week day. I was thinking either the 21-24th. The prices are lower on the week day and I think they have an offer Tuesday through Thrusday it's only $10. But the weekends are when most people are free. Also if you plan on going PM me with your phone number just in case we get a rainy or cold day. Let me know what you all think. This would be a kid friendly event and I think we are going to try to bring Max.

Don Herbert, who as television's "Mr. Wizard" introduced generations of young viewers to the joys of science, died Tuesday. He was 89.

Herbert, who had bone cancer, died at his suburban Bell Canyon home, said his son-in-law, Tom Nikosey.

"He really taught kids how to use the thinking skills of a scientist," said former colleague Steve Jacobs. He worked with Herbert on a 1980s show that echoed the original 1950s "Watch Mr. Wizard" series, which became a fond baby boomer memory.

In "Watch Mr. Wizard," which was produced from 1951 to 1964 and received a Peabody Award in 1954, Herbert turned TV into an entertaining classroom. On a simple, workshop-like set, he demonstrated experiments using household items.

"He modeled how to predict and measure and analyze. ... The show today might seem slow but it was in-depth and forced you to think along," Jacobs said. "You were learning about the forces of nature."

Herbert encouraged children to duplicate experiments at home, said Jacobs, who recounted serving as a behind-the-scenes "science sidekick" to Herbert on the '80s "Mr. Wizard's World" that aired on the Nickelodeon channel.

When Jacobs would reach for beakers and flasks, Herbert would remind him that science didn't require special tools.

"'You could use a mayonnaise jar for that,"' Jacobs recalled being chided by Herbert. "He tried to bust the image of scientists and that science wasn't just for special people and places."

Herbert's place in TV history was acknowledged by later stars. When "Late Night with David Letterman" debuted in 1982, Herbert was among the first-night guests.

Born in Waconia, Minnesota, Herbert was a 1940 graduate of LaCrosse State Teachers College and served as a U.S. Army Air Corps pilot during World War II. He worked as an actor, model and radio writer before starting "Watch Mr. Wizard" in Chicago on NBC.

The show moved to New York after several years.

He is survived by six children and stepchildren and by his second wife, Norma, his son-in-law said. A private funeral was planned.
Solomoon’s world was completely transformed in 1993 when he fatefully discovered the global movement of Goa-trance. He immediately knew this music was a timeless language that transcended not only musical genres, but also cultures and the delicate timeline of humanity. He began spinning in 1994, born from Unity Tribe and a co-founder of the psy-collective Esoteric Gen in Fayetteville, Arkansas, later helping found Metameme and OneTribe Productions in Denver, Colorado. From Burning Man and across the US to Cape Town, South Africa, and Goa, India he has enjoyed sharing this ancient ritual of trance-dance with nomads from around the globe. Combining intelligent melodies with primal rhythms staying true to the organic, tribal, psychedelic-outdoor sounds of Goa-trance, he uses this artistic medium of sound as a spiritual path for transcendentalism.

I also had an amazing experience with Max in the park on Sunday. We went to pennypack in lower moreland and walked until we came to a unmarked trail that lead to the stream. We climbed through the woods and down an embankment to the stream and walked up in the shallow parts through the rapids and saw all kinds of birds, bugs and fish. It was truly a magical experience!!! Reminded me of Hemlock Hole at Four Quarters which for those of you who have been know it is a magical place.
