from Todd Berman of www.TheArtDontStop.org:
Please Join us Sunday for -
A Pierre Valley Neighborhood Art Project
March 9
2-6pm
Martha and Bros. Coffee
1551 Church Street (at Duncan)
Pierre Valley is a terrific little neighborhood that seems to be just now developing it's own identity. It is hip, worldly and quaint all at the same time. Situated on the border between the Mission, Noe Valley, Bernal Heights, and Glen Park, it is an ideal place for San Franciscans to meet up to explore why we all value our neighborhoods so much.
On March 9, we'll be celebrating Pierre Valley and the neighborhood spirit that exists throughout San Francisco.
As a continuation of the series of "collective vision" paintings, I will be creating a painting from the ideas and drawings of neighbors. Everyone can enjoy a creative experience and an opportunity to connect with their neighbors in a new and pleasant way.
People who stop by can draw a little portrait (no skill needed!) of themselves in the neighborhood or write down ideas about what "Pierre Valley" makes them think of. The results will be collaged into a collective self-portrait of the area.
This project will be tied in to the art projects we've been working on at Galileo Academy, the public high school where I am currently the Acting Librarian Artist. See our art projects on the Galileo Academy Library Blog.
