Hello all. I just happened to stumble into this tribe and knew I had to become a member. From reading some of the prior threads, it looks like there are some really knowledgeable instructors and practioners here.
I've never done pilates in class, only at home using various Winsor Pilates dvds: Basic 3 DVD Workout Set and the Maximum Burn 4 DVD set, plus Denise Austin's Hit the Spot Pilates. I really like the Winsor series because they seem to be a little slower paced and very methodical. My favorite workout is the 20 minute workout because it really gives me no excuse to skip a night plus before dance class it stretches and warms me up.
For a while I was hitting it pretty hard and think the Denise Austin one messed up one shoulder so much a cortisone shot was necessary. I blame it on all the t-stand moves. What I don't like about her workout is it's so much faster paced and how many times can she say "zip up your core?"
Anyway, I'm glad to have found this group and hope people don't mind if I ask questions now and again.
Thanks much,
Zina

Wed, June 18, 2008 - 9:51 PMWow just read your post...my bad. I am shocked she hurt you, she does have a degree in exercise physiology, too! Yes, she can get annoying in the way she teaches, too much "sweet, sweet"...when I first started working out I did TV workouts with her way back in the early 90's. Maybe she should stick to just regular exercise. Sounds like she does a different style. I have never heard of the "T Stand"?? Really it comes down to the instructor and their awareness of being able to guide exercisers through their workouts with the least chance of injury. On occasion it's bound to happen, but overall it shouldn't.
