    dung heaps teeming
    cloud castles abandoned
    our meat vehicles bloated
    cash cows screaming
    possesions make us proud
    integrity sold cheap
    drugged with media treacle
    prosperity for the few
    for the rest, bend over
    for the giant screw
    the laws of abundance
    perhaps, perchance
    in very fine print
    outline the cosmic cure
    to disparity and lend
    needed clarity to
    the sufferring masses

      puffed up by our delusional grandeur
      past plenty
      stuffed excess
      one more foolery for the road
      one more ridiculous for the record
      more, one more, and then another
      more, some more
      the more the better
      the bigger, the bolder
      minimal gloat
      maximal affirmation
      
      tell me i exist
      show me my credit slip
      buy me a warship
      sail me into stormy seas
      and tell me i'm captain
      
      feed me words, buy me happiness
      me monograms
      me logos
      
      one cosmic me
      king of the tower
      queen of babel
      on, and on

        lip service compassion,
        long distance charity
        somehow does not yield parity,
        but, such a satisfying show,
        ah, to bathe in the rosy glow,
        rather than wallow in contention,
        yet it seems in this waking dream,
        basic want answered with love,
        is like freezing cold assuaged
        by the warmth of good intention,
        rather than warm gloves

          into yesterday's habits
          it didn't work then
          but it might work now
          
          if i re-digest yesterday's meaninglessness
