&lt;br/&gt;laced with jasmine flowers
&lt;br/&gt;She teases me on the uphill
&lt;br/&gt;but makes amends coming down
&lt;br/&gt;She shows me fields pristeenly shorn
&lt;br/&gt;Sand dunes keeping low profile
&lt;br/&gt;She whisks me towards the corral
&lt;br/&gt;While horses whinney into her delighted smile
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;breeze stays outside while i peek from within
&lt;br/&gt;She rustles pecan leaves
&lt;br/&gt;in a luscious crisp sound meant for solitary ears
&lt;br/&gt;She reminds me that life is a phantasmagoria
&lt;br/&gt;Yes, it is, she whispers

    <summary type="html">&lt;div&gt;From ten thousand feet away I was staring at myself and wondering who the hell I was…a million people have come through my life and I still do not understand what they are saying to me…when I die I want to go see god and ask him or her why they fucked with me so much during this life…all I wanted was to be happy and I could have died as a child and all would have been well…but no…the great one had more fun and games in mind for me and now I am caught in a web of their cruelty and games…I have to live the life I was given and that is the curse of the whole thing…did you know that vampyres cannot kill them selves??...sometimes I want to just go to a far away place where I don’t know myself…where I don’t know anyone and no one has a face…but that is not reality…reality is suffering and having to smile about the whole thing…we think that life is a blessing when really it is a curse…I remember when I was a little boy…things were so simple…well except for the racial tension…the fact that my father was dying and I was the youngest and the only one still at home…in my life I don’t think I have ever been close to anyone…except for my son and daughter…but still I try to make the best of it…soldiering on like a true trooper…when really I want to lay down my gun and shout at the commanding officer that I will not fight his battles for him anymore…and I have to wonder…who would miss me were I dead??...i doubt that any would but maybe that’s just me…I accept death as a valued part of life and I want mine…I do not know what I want to do…only what I have to do and it’s been that way for a very long time…I don’t think that I have ever been happy in this life…or if I was I don’t remember it…I want some solace…I want to be taken care of for a change but what happens is that I end up taking care of everyone else around me…I want to get drunk and stoned and go out of my fucking mind and do something that I normally wouldn’t but I can’t because there is no one to take care of the mess that would result…I want to go crazy…or maybe I already am and I just don’t know it…like bruce willis in that movie where the kid is telling him that he sees dead people and bruce doesn’t get it that if the kid is talking to him that he must be dead also…but hey…never mind me…the trees all have black leaves and the sun is burning a hole in my eyes…all the streams of happiness are dry and the ocean of love is polluted with pornography and discharge from a million billion cocks and cunts which are all diseased…what can I say to the bird of me that flies through the caustic air losing his feathers??...what can I say that would make him not want to just fly into the cesspool that we call society and fly head on into a light pole or a plate glass window…I wish I had some chocolate jesus to calm me down just now…I wish I had enough explosives to shatter the planet…I wish I had a smile to give you but I don’t have any of those things…all I have is these words and you probably can’t understand them…no worries…par for the course…as I said in the beginning…I have had millions pass through my life and none of them got it either…so why would I expect anyone else to??&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;a walk through torrential rains
&lt;br/&gt;the puddles, oh rice, oh the wet lakes of distant provinces
&lt;br/&gt;my path a national geographic, oh beans
&lt;br/&gt;the trucks that would push me into the niagara falls of despair
&lt;br/&gt;those walls of wet, oh soup
&lt;br/&gt;yet, yea, as i walked through the storm
&lt;br/&gt;the gray outpour, i thought of you
&lt;br/&gt;you kept me strong
&lt;br/&gt;true to my course
&lt;br/&gt;oh beans, rice and soup
&lt;br/&gt;as long as you feature in my future
&lt;br/&gt;i shall walk the toils and atrocities of weather

&lt;br/&gt;the sidewalk cafe
&lt;br/&gt;i've crunched on whole wheat, crusty white, bagel nourished ego
&lt;br/&gt;i've had it.
&lt;br/&gt;i like a little hubris on the side
&lt;br/&gt;a fall after some pride
&lt;br/&gt;a cathartic cool one, no straw
&lt;br/&gt;i've done that scene

&lt;br/&gt;the newspapers blare with threat, warning, fear

&lt;br/&gt;radical terror
&lt;br/&gt;imagination rips open the future
&lt;br/&gt;to watch a dali-esque landscape melt into days
&lt;br/&gt;reality uncooked, globules of impossible moments
&lt;br/&gt;this, then, is my future.

&lt;br/&gt;have i paid my dues for past life blunders
&lt;br/&gt;and now i am ready for new?

&lt;br/&gt;i want to find
&lt;br/&gt;a black haired
&lt;br/&gt;Grecian woman
&lt;br/&gt;with glowing green eyes
&lt;br/&gt;and hand as quick
&lt;br/&gt;and sure
&lt;br/&gt;as minerva's
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;today
&lt;br/&gt;i want to have
&lt;br/&gt;all the money
&lt;br/&gt;so i could give it away
&lt;br/&gt;and take care of
&lt;br/&gt;everyone
&lt;br/&gt;feed the hungry
&lt;br/&gt;clothe the naked
&lt;br/&gt;and shelter the homeless
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;today
&lt;br/&gt;i am an old man
&lt;br/&gt;with bad eyes
&lt;br/&gt;bad teeth
&lt;br/&gt;bad memory
&lt;br/&gt;and just enough love
&lt;br/&gt;to keep me alive
&lt;br/&gt;but
&lt;br/&gt;there is always
&lt;br/&gt;tomorrow&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;Fat red and golden with specks of white light.
&lt;br/&gt;What escapes the fierce shiny eye? Ferocious beak and claws unearth deep wiggly treasures.
&lt;br/&gt;His song is short and 
&lt;br/&gt;to the point.
&lt;br/&gt;It kicks me in gear  each morning, all day long leads the way--
&lt;br/&gt;wide brave breast!
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;Exciting 
&lt;br/&gt;and ...
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;exhausting. 
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;But 
&lt;br/&gt;it goes early to bed. Thank God!

&lt;br/&gt;i have a little time to be 
&lt;br/&gt;with my brooding hen.

&lt;br/&gt;like we remember
&lt;br/&gt;what it was like
&lt;br/&gt;to be flames
&lt;br/&gt;and waves
&lt;br/&gt;where 
&lt;br/&gt;there is no cold stare
&lt;br/&gt;of critical eyes
&lt;br/&gt;we remove the masks
&lt;br/&gt;and express inner urges
&lt;br/&gt;of men
&lt;br/&gt;we move like the wind
&lt;br/&gt;now here
&lt;br/&gt;now gone
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;3
&lt;br/&gt;we hide
&lt;br/&gt;in a hole
&lt;br/&gt;remove our masks
&lt;br/&gt;and wipe our eyes
&lt;br/&gt;looking at the open world
&lt;br/&gt;the open arms
&lt;br/&gt;we open our eyes
&lt;br/&gt;and become 
&lt;br/&gt;who we are
&lt;br/&gt;until the morning
&lt;br/&gt;the sun of You

&lt;br/&gt;stuck in my mind
&lt;br/&gt;generations of children sent on their way
&lt;br/&gt;lost in a nightmare of anxious fear
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;that's the story
&lt;br/&gt;a continuing saga
&lt;br/&gt;with bursts of pathos and dread
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;i used to read astrology
&lt;br/&gt;or pull my i ching
&lt;br/&gt;the days of messages from a bottle
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;but now, i'm the bad news
&lt;br/&gt;i share the bitter facts
&lt;br/&gt;on a morning ripe with potential
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;large wise humans
&lt;br/&gt;open my eyes
&lt;br/&gt;today is for the little chances
&lt;br/&gt;the speeding trains
&lt;br/&gt;and the slow-moving sheep
&lt;br/&gt;children ride horses
&lt;br/&gt;we smell the newly picked carrots
&lt;br/&gt;lush green fields feed our tomorrows
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;i do the japanese dance
&lt;br/&gt;i walk on, choose my pose
&lt;br/&gt;walk off
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;a moment is all i've got&lt;/div&gt;

    <summary type="html">&lt;div&gt;She grew up black and blue. She grew up to paint others black and blue too. Any tool would do. It was the power of art, the art of power, that inflated her so she could jump out of her own shoes and lift off above the rabble, power to not hurt, by hurting others.  The Black and Blue period...   They say Picasso had it for 5 years.   Apparently it can last even 75 years... variations on the same theme...
&lt;br/&gt;There is no more power to hurt others, no one has any power on her.  Daily, i am pulling great rainbows across the sky,  a wide open palette, dripping with colors, just for her... And still, grimly determined, every once in a while this frail old lady falls all over herself, you might say "head over heels", breaks a bone or two, 
&lt;br/&gt;but no matter... you could almost detect a smile on her face "see what i did?", as if she feels alive, in her element, the only one she knows, my poor old mother,
&lt;br/&gt;Black and Blue. &lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;noise like trapped parakeets
&lt;br/&gt;then only the rollers kept the beat
&lt;br/&gt;while 10 p.m. populace slept behind shutters
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;her long travelling feet searched for familiar terrain
&lt;br/&gt;hoping for the sound of friendship
&lt;br/&gt;till a voice called out from deep in her bag
&lt;br/&gt;a cellphone voice from a faraway smile
&lt;br/&gt;a glimmer of warmth in a foreign timezone
&lt;br/&gt;then her breath clouding in a comic bubble of hope
&lt;br/&gt;she cried out to an approaching being
&lt;br/&gt;name to name,
&lt;br/&gt;long-armed embrace  was ready to pounce
&lt;br/&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;i don't get it
&lt;br/&gt;everything is changing
&lt;br/&gt;everyone's out of focus
&lt;br/&gt;and there's something
&lt;br/&gt;in my eye
&lt;br/&gt;i don't have a reflection
&lt;br/&gt;when i gaze into the waters
&lt;br/&gt;everything seems all wrong
&lt;br/&gt;or maybe it's alright
&lt;br/&gt;and i don't understand
&lt;br/&gt;what normal means because
&lt;br/&gt;i have never been so
&lt;br/&gt;does this make any sense to you?
&lt;br/&gt;do i make any sense to me?
&lt;br/&gt;what are senses and why do mine tingle?
&lt;br/&gt;everything seems to be electric and vibrating
&lt;br/&gt;but i feel wooden these days
&lt;br/&gt;filled with worm holes
&lt;br/&gt;i drift upon a sea
&lt;br/&gt;which brings me neither
&lt;br/&gt;nearer to the shore
&lt;br/&gt;nor further out
&lt;br/&gt;i can hear seagulls calling
&lt;br/&gt;but it sounds like echoes
&lt;br/&gt;from the past
&lt;br/&gt;they circle overhead
&lt;br/&gt;but i only see the shadows
&lt;br/&gt;of their wings and they never land
&lt;br/&gt;i don't know what happened
&lt;br/&gt;or how i got this way
&lt;br/&gt;maybe i've always been this way
&lt;br/&gt;or that way
&lt;br/&gt;directionless
&lt;br/&gt;in a place where it is neither
&lt;br/&gt;day nor night
&lt;br/&gt;is it twilight or dawn
&lt;br/&gt;what time is it
&lt;br/&gt;whose time is it
&lt;br/&gt;where can i find the time
&lt;br/&gt;i don't know
&lt;br/&gt;and maybe that's the way
&lt;br/&gt;it is supposed to be...

    <summary type="html">&lt;div&gt;in days long past
&lt;br/&gt;celebrations
&lt;br/&gt;had a purpose, a reason
&lt;br/&gt;more so than simply
&lt;br/&gt;tradition
&lt;br/&gt;or a over abundance 
&lt;br/&gt;of alcohol and drugs
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;in some places
&lt;br/&gt;money will not suffice
&lt;br/&gt;to fill the heart
&lt;br/&gt;devoid of love
&lt;br/&gt;and purchased oddities
&lt;br/&gt;are seen as
&lt;br/&gt;an insult
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;for some people
&lt;br/&gt;being held
&lt;br/&gt;in warm arms
&lt;br/&gt;kissed by willing lips
&lt;br/&gt;and being told
&lt;br/&gt;that they are indeed
&lt;br/&gt;loved
&lt;br/&gt;heals wounds
&lt;br/&gt;that modern medicine
&lt;br/&gt;cannot detect
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;i remember
&lt;br/&gt;when all she had to give
&lt;br/&gt;was a dozen cookies
&lt;br/&gt;a hug and a kiss 
&lt;br/&gt;on the top of my head
&lt;br/&gt;she is long dead now
&lt;br/&gt;i am far from her
&lt;br/&gt;but i have never felt so loved
&lt;br/&gt;since then&lt;/div&gt;
