Tuck turns

topic posted Fri, March 21, 2008 - 5:54 PM by  Miss Wolfe
I'm using the video tutorials on homeofpoi to teach myself how to spin. I'm trying to do a tuck turn, but can't seem to grasp it. On top of that, it's screwing up my comfort with doing low turns right after I thought I had it down.
Any advice or different ways to explain a tuck turn?

The main thing I can think of that might mess you up with the tuck turns would be if your not turning yourself enough. The common problem I have noticed with people doing this is that they don't want to turn away from their poi, which is what you need to do.

Thanks so much! I'm pretty sure that's my problem is that I'm turning toward my poi!

It's simple, small things that seem to get me every time!

The other thing I commonly see when people are learning turns is they dont actually turn. when you do a turn your body should do a complete 180 and your poi will be spinning the opposite direction. like if your facing west spinning forward and do a turn, youll be facing east and spinning backwards. later on youll realize how to do the turns with out turning your body completely but until then its your best bet.
