Thu, March 27, 2008 - 11:30 AMWelcome! Sock poi are easy to make, and are used for practice by many of the "gods" of poi.
Long stripey sock + weighted tennis ball = poi fun
Some socks are too stretchy. Some socks start out stretchy, but "break-in," to almost perfect.
Have fun. -

Fri, March 28, 2008 - 2:47 PMIf you find that tennis balls don't agree with you when you get hit by them (which will happen alot). A balloon full of dry beans works well in place of the ball. I usualy use two balloons on each "ball" so they are less likely to break.
Oh, and I know how you feel, aparently Arkansas doesn't have that many poi spinners. The solution I found for this is teaching as many friends as are willing to learn. -

Re: hey from upstate new york
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 5:06 PMIn a way it's kinda cool though. I mean it isn't this mass marketed fad that is they are doing segments about on the today show or anything like that. I mean it didn't even know it existed until I saw a cat spinning fire a rock festival last summer. I like that it's kind of an organic almost underground thing, and I have to make my first set of poi rather than being able to go to target or wherever and buy them.
