1) I'm not convinced that is traditional Muslim gear. I have many Muslim friends here in Atlanta from across the Islamic diaspora, and have never seen that garb. I am inclined to think it's merely tribal. I'm not going to fault a politico for wearing a native people's garb. Granted, I could be wrong...
2) I'm glad we both agree that Christianity is a cult. Given the number of peoples on both sides of the Christianity/Muslim equation who have died in the name of God, I'm not sure that leaves anyone ANY room to say that Islam is bad. If you're going to fault someone for being Muslim, you should equally fault another someone for being Christian.
3) I know about Islam, and it is not a killing religion. Like Christianity and Hinduism, Islam teaches many things, but it does not endorse violence. Fundamentalists do. Let me repeat that. Islam, like Christsianity and Hinduism, does NOT endorse violence. Take a few fundamentalist crackpots who prey on the emotions of the gullible and weak, and THOSE FUNDAMENTALISTS will twist their doctrine around into something that doesn't resemble the thing they most claim to be. A "Christian Fundamentalist" is nothing like a Christian. An "Islamic Fundamentalist" is not a Muslim.
Thanks to high-profile terrorist events, Islam has gotten a bad rap. Remember the KKK, Nagaland Rebels, IRA, Timothy McVeigh, Red Hand Commandos, Unabomber, and for that matter Hitler (who was a Catholic and not an atheist as many would have you believe) ? Why don't we go ahead and give Christianity an equivalently bad rap? Perhaps we should not be electing any Christians this term?
The Islamic folks I know just want to pray and celebrate and put food on the table. In fact, they are the most generous people I know, even more so than many Christians I know here in the Bible Belt. A Muslim man sat by my father's deathbed, weeping into his Q'ran, as we watched the man die. He fasted and got his children to fast--for my father. (My father was a Hindu, and his best friends were Muslim, contrary to what the press would have us believe about the attitudes between Hindus and Muslims.) A Muslim family laughs and plays with us, feeding us all kinds of things we never would have tried without their willingess to share. The Christians here mostly just want me to come to church, and to pray for me when I tell them I'm a nonbeliever.
Snopes has plenty more to say on the topic of Obama not being a Muslim, refuting every single popular claim of him having any ties to "radical Islam." (Including the ones crossposted across tribe.) I won't re-hash that here. www.snopes.com/politics/o...muslim.asp. Bottom line, Obama is not a Muslim.
So even if Obama WAS a Muslim (he's definitely not), I would still have no problem voting for him.

See the photo of Barak Hussein Obama dressed in traditional Muslim garb? Will Barak Hussein Obama wear his Muslim get-up if he's elected El Presidente?
Or even better, "The Militant Muslim Family of Barack Hussein Obama" - faultlineusa.blogspot.com/2008/...k.html
This is absolutely frightening:
"Obama's older brother still lives there. Abongo 'Roy' Obama is a Luo activist and a militant Muslim who argues that the black man must 'liberate himself from the poisoning influences of European culture.' He urges his younger brother to embrace his African heritage....
"Odinga is a Marxist who reportedly has made a pact with a hard-line Islamic group in Kenya to establish Shariah courts throughout the country. He has also vowed to ban booze and pork and impose Muslim dress codes on women — moves favored by Obama's brother."
And then there are these additions:
"Yet Obama interrupted his New Hampshire campaigning to speak by phone with Odinga, who claims to be his cousin."
"We should also ask Obama why he used taxpayer money to travel to Kenya and rally on behalf of a Muslim-supported Odinga, which would lead many to erroneously assume the U.S. itself was supporting Odinga."
I'd say we have something to worry about, if this claim about Obama's own brother is true.
I have to wonder if we are being set up for the big fall into the hands of Islam. It seems like Bush & Co. made a secret deal to sell the U.S. to the Saudis - and that Obama is part of the package.

"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."

Anyone can see by his posture and foolish grin, he has put these robes on for the first time. This is a tourist visiting the country of his ancestors and putting on traditional clothing of the land, it has nothing to do with either Islam or Obama's politics.
