It's almost too far fetched, but it seems as tho Team Rove just keeps on keeping on. Julie Meyers is yet another highly qualified crony with scant expertise in the field U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. Oh yeah she married Chertoff's Cheif of Staff and her uncle happens to be JCOS Chairman Meyers.
They get it alright..here's a Wonkette quote:
"...we finally understand the White House's promise that their contribution to architecture of federal government would be a bureaucracy-free model of efficiency. They got rid of a lot of paperwork by dispensing with resumes."

Re: Bushies' tin ear on cronyism
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 2:20 PMSorry, I'm suffering from Outrage Overload. At this point, any extra signs of shennanigans at BushCo short of satan worship or cannibalism all get barely a raised eyebrow out of me. -

Re: Bushies' tin ear on cronyism
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 2:36 PMI think I posted a thread about this yesterday. Or someone else did. Maybe that's why there arent as many responses jamus.
Doing this, particularly after the Mike Brown controversy, is nothing but childish arrogance. It has Rove all over it. -

Re: Bushies' tin ear on cronyism
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 2:40 PMmy bad, stacy. i hadn't been peeking thru too much but eyed it today in Mo Dowd's column in the NYT, which was similataneously chuckleworthy and horrifying...again. I guess it is hard to be outraged when the crap keeps happening unabated. I just hope we don't all get too numb, too fast.

Re: Bushies' tin ear on cronyism
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 2:39 PMFor me, this tribe is to vent my frustrations at the apologists who insist on providing Bush with political cover while he dismantles everything good about this country. At the moment, the only person with the sheer audacity for something like that is Salil, who's on the IPD tribe and is AWOL at the moment. On this tribe, the closest we've got are Ron and Steve, who lack that certain je ne sais quoi to be quite so rabidly self-destuctive.

Re: Bushies' tin ear on cronyism
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 4:08 PMWhat do you mean "scant"? Doesn't she have no experience? Again, if he wants to dole out political appointments like early Christmas presents, then give her an ambassadorship to the Vatican or some other job that's not important. That they're pushing her right after the Brown fiasco is amazing. I wonder if Bush would pick a surgeon with no experience just as a political favor. Tin ear? How about tin head? These guys act like a two bit bumbling local government.
We really need to have a no confidence vote option. I'm almost tempted to accept loose reading of the "high crimes and misdemeanors" requirement for impeachment to include incompetence, if that didn't contradict everything I believed in regarding the rule of law. -

Re: Bushies' tin ear on cronyism
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 4:32 PMHere is conservative Michelle Malkin's take on it:
michellemalkin.com/archives/003576.htm
Seriously, Ron is right- put your cousin's best friend's brother's sister in a position that doesnt matter- one where they go to lots of parties and get chauffered around like it does matter. In fact, I'm available for that job.
Dont put these folks in positions where when something happens, everyone is scratching their heads wondering what the hell went wrong.
And Cherkoff of DHS had the gall to say she's qualified. Based on what? I mean, there's a point where regardless of political affiliation, we all have to get sick of being treated by this administration like we're collectively head-injured. -

Re: Bushies' tin ear on cronyism
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 4:39 PMIt's comforting to see Malkin and other Bush apologists finally face the truth. Trouble is, they're touting the line that this is just a problem related to immigration, as if his entire administration weren't riddled with unqualified cronies like these.
<<And Cherkoff of DHS had the gall to say she's qualified. Based on what?>>
Maybe she's just as qualified as Cherkoff is. -

Is that spelled right? (Or does his name start with a "J"?) -

Re: Bushies' tin ear on cronyism
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 4:41 PMHey, let's start a draft Stacy movement, for Director of Women's Health at the FDA. Stacy has far more qualifications than either the veterinarian or the MBA, the 2 appointees this week.
(Next we can draft Ron as head of the federal government's HR dept. Ron will proposed a revolutionary change: all job applicants will be required to submit a resume, instead of a family tree.)
