As Pollination is a fair migration for many people of this planet, the journey to the heart of the Cariboo may seem daunting to the uninitiated. Know that you will be taken care of, and it is worth the journey - in fact the journey itself is worth the journey!
In the spirit of community and rising gas prices, may this space serve to connect those who are in need of transport, or who have transport to offer. Please reply to this post if you are of the above...
Also, if there is interest, there is the thought of a communal bus or van rental from the coastal areas to bring folks up and back again. If anyone is interested in pursuing this for the greater good (i.e. organizing a vehicle, driving, etc.), please post here so that others can be informed. This would require enough confirmed travellers to make it worthwhile endeavour, but the cost for travel can be pretty reasonable if it is split between enough people...
Please feel free to email pollination1@gmail.com if you have any questions...
May you have safe, pleasant, and peaceful journeys.... :)

Re: Ride share
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 12:23 PMI was looking up van rentals...and it's only 65.5$ per person for 4 people to rent a van from Budget rentals for 5 days...That's with all taxes.
They also have 15 person vans if the need is there. This is from Vancouver. -

Re: Ride share
Sun, March 23, 2008 - 11:40 AMThanks for looking into it - I assume mileage is on top of that charge? Do you know how much that would be? It's about 600 km from Vancouver...
Still much better than the bus, which is $80 - 100 each way I think...
The big van would probably be the way to go if enough people jump in...

Fish needs a ride
Thu, April 10, 2008 - 2:30 PMHey good people!
I need to find a van, mini-van, truck, 4-runner or something else with some cargo space, to take myself, my music gear, and one to four other people from Vancouver to/from the Pollination gathering (see below) in the Cariboo (about eight hours north of Vancouver) from Apr 18-20.
If someone is interested in the gathering itself and would like to drive up, that would be ideal (I will help pay for gas of course and so will the other passengers)... but if that doesn't materialize, another option would be that I rent the vehicle from you, and at least keep the money within the community instead of letting Budget get it.
If you are able to help with this in any way, please get back to me ASAP!
cheers

Re: Ride share
Fri, April 11, 2008 - 7:20 PMHey Raquel here,
I'm driving a Ford f-150 extended cab 5 seatbelts and long box. no canopy though. I get a wretched 6km/l better on the highway, at $1.30/l for 600 km to the Caribou one way.
All I need is the support, the financials, and good friends to enjoy progressive, Regae, and psy-classic-rock,with taste.
I'm not decided to go as of yet. I have not actually given it any thought nor have I found the required incentive.
Up in the air,
Q'elf -

Mon, April 14, 2008 - 9:16 PMhi Raquel,
Fish, myself and my partner Jesse are all looking for a way up, as well as (I think) a lovely lady named Eden. Plus Fish has all his gear. Would your fit all of us and our gear?
When would you want to go? When would you want to come back?
