Atheism seems more and more the way of the future.

I'm just curious where Jesus said to slaughter anyone at all.

It appears to be a case of people choosing different parts of the Old Testament and bringing them into their lives to align or support their own nasty beliefs or human weaknesses.
Nothing in the New Testament where the supposed words of Jesus are talk about slaughter, or homophobia or gathering riches unto oneself, etc. The Christians I associate with in my church are more about bringing the words of Jesus forward into our lives. We spend time looking out for those less fortunate, marching in or watching Pride Parades, feeding the homeless, celebrating Mothers Day by welcoming all single mothers in our community to a brunch and their children to choose a gift for their Mom from the selection we've made. We also like to tear down stereotypes as much as possible, discussing this regularly.

Old testiment is full of slaughter and it's good friend rape with a little pillage for good measure. There is nothing recorded of Jesus just hearsay and from one guy who fell off his ass onto his head. So for all we know Jesus said kill them all then fuck your brother.
These type of christians just make it up as they go along to suit their purpose which mainly is to make money. -
-
Yes, B. you're right - there is nothing recorded - it is just hearsay. It is the metaphorical life of Jesus and words attributed to him that I see as a model for living.
I especially like the tearing apart or cleansing of the temple where the money changers and tax collectors were. I take this to mean the tearing down of the corporation is in compliance with Jesus' lifestyle. -
-
Yeah and do you notice when politicians or religious leaders 'quote' the bible they almost never talk about that.
There are plenty of models, Buddha, Isis, you can even find real ones like MLK. I find the Catholic church so offensive and christianity in general because it has earned a weight in the world well beyond what it has supposedly done for the good of the world. Especially the early years of the Catholic church. There was a real consolidation of wealth and power happening there.

Apparently Jesus did exist, but more as a Ghandi kind of person. Roman records from Ceareria claim his followers as a "sit in" kind of people.
-
-
The Romans didn't have Jesus in there records until 120 years after his presumed birth, and that was after the books that included the Gospels were written.
-
-
The Gospels that are used in general Christian texts today weren't in the general form that they are in until Constantine told all the clergy that it was either his way or the highway. And his meaning was that the decenters would get the best spike on the hill. Most fragments of other texts or gospels if you want, date back to the correct time period with a century. If you wanted to consider the buddhist reincarnation principal, the man we know as Jesus was probably reborn just over a hundred years ago, graduated as a lawyer in England, came to notoriety in South Africa just as WW1 was happening and guided his beloved India to Independence only to fall to an assassins bullet in 1947.
