The Last Dancer - book by Daniel Keys Moran
from the Flame came Nightways.
in the beginning was the Flame, and the Flame was life. those who came after saw the Flame, and rejoiced, and danced in it's beauty.
for a long time this was so.
then we came, the broken ones. we learned the dance, and mastered the dance, and then dared attempt to master the flame itself. and did.
from shia came shiabre'.
from life came death.
from the Flame came Nightways.
we are born broken, and live by mending.
*i see that i am broken*
you are a Shield, a servant of the living Flame. will you live in service of the Flame?
*i will*
will you kill if you must?
*i will*
will you die if needed; will you live when you no longer wish to, if the service is required of you?
*i will*
then live, and dance the Flame...
