Hi all shiva ratri is coming soon .ppl in varanasi are warned not to drink bhang as most of then also contain belladona seeds.Even if you wish to have bhanga get it from govt shop.Do not forget to joing DHRUPADA MUSIC FESTIVAL AT TULSI GHAT.I AM GOING TO STAY THERE FOR 3 DAYS WHOLE NIGHT ...WAOOOO CAN NOT WAIT TILL THEN

    Are you sure that the bhang in varanasi doesn't contain datura? Belladona wasn't really ever a significant part of Indian traditions.

    Dhattura on the other hand has always had a signifiant place in Indian materia medican and even the ludible pharmacopia

    I remember participating at a temple of a well-known Yoga group a couple of years ago. It was led by the leader of the local group and not a functionary. Many of the people participating were first-timers.

    The leader was a delightful woman. Lots of singing, dancing, and giving of blessings to an enormous shiva lingam.

    There was a sudden change in the room when the meaning of the appearance of yogurt flowing down the lingam was obvious! LOL.
    The leader realized it and quickly began with an "explanation" that the meaning wasn't what everyone could see.

    At around 2:00 am, the temple was busted by the police for making too much noise!

    Within a year, that site closed.

    yes ppl mix dhatyura seeds in bhanga which could be dangerous

      Undoubtedly. The trpane alkaloids are fairly toxic, but the greater danger if hurting oneself while (semi)dissociated.

      I understand that nux vomica is another admixture plant that is not uncommonly included to intensify intoxication. This plant (like datura) is quite toxic and is to be avoided.
