I can pay as little as$14 and as much as $60 for a Sony HDMI cable. Does it make a big difference?

Thu, September 20, 2007 - 4:13 PMNope. It is a digital signal. Either it works or not. There is no such thing as "better signal" (in the sense like it meant with analog.) (Technically, yes there can be a better quality signal, if the cable is bad then it basically does not work. If you get a lot of drop out then the cable is bad. But no real reason to spend 100 dollars.) I will never pay 100$ for a cable ever. I have not had any problems with the cheap 10 dollar cables. If you are worried about failure, buy 2. I have been ordering cables from this place called DCables (www.dcables.net) They are really high quality cables and have worked well. I wired my whole AV theatre system with their cables and paid like a couple hundred bucks compared to the thousands it would have cost me with Monster or any other.
