"Surprisingly enough, PS3 numbers for the month of November neared the 200k mark (197k, to be precise). That would mean that Sony shipped 150k for launch, and shipped an additional 50k the week later to end the month with 200k in sales. Clearly as it's been stated numerous times before, Sony will not be hitting their 1M units shipped mark before the end of December, as predictions claim just about 600k with the end of 2006."

Sony Satisfied with November Results
"While the data shows that Sony only managed to ship 197,000 units in November, far below the previously anticipated 400,000, Sony remains insistent about one thing- their vow to ship one million PS3s in 2006. According to Karraker, the company remains "focused on having one million PS3s in the pipeline by December 31, 2006."

I don't mean numbers mean much right now seeing as how there is not enough units able to get into the hands of people wanting one, but it's always nice to have some data in-hand.

Re: PS3 Sales
Tue, December 12, 2006 - 9:49 PMyeah, that's messed up. has anyone here gone into a store and seen a PS3 on a shelf, available to buy?
but it's nice to see nobody's buy a PS3 and now sony will go out of business *cough*.
i predict 2007 to be the year of the PS3. the wii isn't much stronger than the gamecube, and which are now going at eb games for $80. i see the race being between the 360 and the PS3 this time next year, with nintendo paddling furiously to keep up. it's like history repeating itself, and perhaps even nintendo eventually going the way of sega. -

Re: PS3 Sales
Thu, December 14, 2006 - 8:51 AMIsn't that always the way? The year after the release being where it really gets going and the game titles flow. :) I figure I'll be getting mine next year, especially after dropping $400 buck on on my cat to have surgery this week. Responsibility first, games second.
I'm not anti-wii, but I just haven't seen anything for it that screams buy me. I only got the game cube last christmas becuase it came bundled for $99 with a $50 game I wanted to play, so my husband bought it for me. It was a filler gift for the tree, since he bought me a laptop. Christmas is the rain of games in my home. -

Re: PS3 Sales
Sat, December 16, 2006 - 2:54 AMDyana, are you talking to me? I was sort of confused why you brought up the Wii but there was some info about it in the link. I wasn't posting it to compare sales even though my links were (I know numbers don't mean much on launch. Long run numbers are only the real teller of truth). I just quoted the things I thought were important. It was the first story I read about PS3 sales. Sorry for the missunderstanding. -

Re: PS3 Sales
Sat, December 16, 2006 - 9:26 AMi think she was commenting on the sad trend for nintendo that i brought up. and good call about the kitties, dyana.
of course the wii was going to sell more on launch. it's cheaper and nintendo has a new gadget with this one. i don't mean to bash the wii either other than for the sole purpose of counteracting the negative campaign against the PS3. the fact that there needs to be a whisper campaign to boost sales for nintendo is truely sad and a sign that nintendo is going the way of sega. personally, my disappointment with nintendo started with the retarded game cube controller. gee, can anyone find the A button on that think? i can't see to find it. -

Re: PS3 Sales
Sat, December 16, 2006 - 4:34 PMAhh, ok. I agree about the GC controller. I don't even remember where that button was but I do remember it was literally a strain on my hands. Although to be fair, Xbox's first version of their controller was too big. Maybe my hands are just too small, but it wasn't comfortable for me using it. Soon after though, they shrunk it a little. -

Re: PS3 Sales
Sun, December 17, 2006 - 10:59 AMno, you're right. the xbox controller was too big at first. and the A button comment was a joke, it's the huge red one. i can see how it would strain one's hands (haven't played much with one myself) with it being so off-center and random. -

Re: PS3 Sales
Sun, December 17, 2006 - 5:24 PMlol, wow, went right over my head. I was thinking of a diff. button then. I don't remember what it was, Z or Y or something, but it wasn't comfortable for me to use. I think Mario Sunshine used it.

Re: PS3 Sales
Mon, December 18, 2006 - 5:35 AMYes, I was replying to your comment. :) Thank you, I've been mostly taking care of the cat since she got back, so sort of dropped off the face of tribes for a while. I'm sorry if I caused any confusion, tribe doen'ts tend to indent threads as dramatically as some other places I chat at, sometimes it can get kind of hard to tell who is talking to whom here.
The cat is healing nicely, the ps3 has a space waiting for it when supply of both the unit and the dollars in my bank permit. :). The cat will probably try to eat it, she eats everything. We don't use plastic bags anymore, if that gives you a hint. LOL

Re: PS3 Sales
Mon, January 8, 2007 - 5:18 AMAccording to my husband, Best Buy has a bunch that just got shipped out to stores and are still available. The post Christmas everyone is broke period is one, and in my area, there's flooding to contend with, so I probably could get one today if I was any less broke than the rest of the post-christmas crowd. LOL -
