I recently wrote you a message that I would love to get your feedback on regarding this in a way... :)

I am an artist who works mainly with oils and abstract images. Many have inquired about my art and what inspires me and/or do I sketch first then paint? Or go into the creative process with a particular intent or message to reveal?

The answer for me is no. At times I have, yes...but not my main mode of expression or process. For me, my artwork just sort of "happens to me." It is a beautiful moment unlike any other when I sit down to work with the smell of the oils and a blank canvas in front of me to dive into! It is even more thrilling as the oils swirl and evolve on their own to creating an expression of that which is within me and urging me forward to get out. At some point, I just stop and know "it is done." But, really...with my art, I feel it is never really done because as much as my brushes are put down and washed again for the next approach...the piece itself takes on an entire new life of it's own...whether it's others' interpretations, experience, and insights gained into themselves and their life or my own revelations of "from whence it came." I absolutely love these experiences and awakenings!

I wonder how many others out there have similar experiences in the creative process of letting go and abandoning yourself and spirit to a blank canvas, piece of paper, etc....?

I would be extremely interested in knowing how your creative process occurs...
