Thanks Jody for offering reviews. This is also a place to add books that have made a difference in your life.
My list (off the top of my head):
The Nature of Personal Reality by Jane Roberts
Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yoganada
The Power of Intention by Wayne Dyer
(I have a lot more but will start with these)

Re: Books that are significant to your life and your spiritual awakening
Tue, February 13, 2007 - 5:22 PMHi there Bruce,
Thanks for the recommendations. I have so many books listed from recommendations on this and other tribes that I'd now like to read...I think I will be reading every day of my life until the day I pass over! I wonder if there will really be enough time??? :)
To respond to your comment...some books that come to mind that have been great for me at different points in my life are...
Messages From the Masters by Brian Weiss, MD
...ultimately about "Tapping into the Power of Love" as the rest of the title goes
Is an interesting look at the realm of past life experiences that can assist persons in understanding spiritiual events going on in our lives in this lifetime.
Qoute from book, pg 218-219 :
"Our hearts know the path to happiness and inner peace. Spiritual practices such as meditation and prayer remind us of what we already know. When we forget our heart's message and fall into life's ruts and crevices, we feel unfulfilled and unhappy. We get depressed and anxious. We have blurred our perspective, forgotten the bigger picture, and lost the way. The remedy is simple. Take the time to remember your divinity, your spiritual nature. Remember why you are here. Meditiation is the art or technique of quieting the mind so that the endless chatter that normally fills our consciousness is stilled. In the quiet of the silent mind, the meditator begins to become an observer, to reach a level of detachment, and, eventually, to become aware of a higher state of consciousness. By pulling us out of the rut of our everyday awareness, meditation serves as a reminder of what we have been learning about higher, more spiritual values. To meditate regularly is to remember regularly. You are reminded of the bigger picture, of what is important to us in our lives and what is not."
This book also includes some exercises and meditations one can use.
Great book, good read, would recommend to all :)
Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsh
...teaches a great tool one can use in their own understanding of situations, events, people, life, etc. if one approaches such with clarity and openess....
Have used technique many times and it is as he says...the pen in your hand just seems to take on a life of it's own in revealing truths that are already within us to answer the questions we may be faced with.
Read a long time ago. Recall I was not pulled into book 2 or 3 that much at the time. But, may have to go back and reread to see where affects me today in my current perspectives.
The Four Agreements is good but..."brief."
Highlights that persons need to:
1 - Be impeccable with their word
2 - Not take anything personally
3 - Not to make assumptions
4 - Always do your best on any given day...
*Disband your old tired agreements and create new ones...
Focus daily on these simple guidelines...quite helpful
And, though fictional, the one that opened me up ages ago to exploring my connections with the universe around and connections with others and life events that just seem to rush in and dance in our every moment would be Celestine Prophecy.
Hope some of you find some great times learning with these.
Till next time - Jody -
