Re: Basic Brain Anatomy and 3 Selves
Tue, July 25, 2006 - 8:08 PMIn essence, we are living with three brains, not one. Each of those brains developed in evolutionary time. The oldest of them is the Reptilian Brain. This part of the brain deals
with instinct, memory, and sustains basic life functions in the body. The Reptilian brain
regulates the bodies enormously complicated assorted functions, such as valves for blood
vessels, or the pumping of the heart, or even the selection of gastro-intestinal chemistries.
The Reptilian Brain is responsible for the flight or fight response, negative or dark emotions and simplistic emotional responses, and simple need tropisms like seeking out warmth or shelter or food or water.
The Mammalian Brain is slightly younger and evolved next. This part of us is responsible
for our social emotions, compassion, love, and social bonding.
The Cerebral coretex or frontal lobes or modern Brain is repsonsible for the ego mind,
social interactions, social identity, logical reasoning and intellectual faculties.
Each of these three areas of the brain ends up being in some ways an independant person. Each person is somewhat a multiple personality. 2 parts of us are subliminal
and seldom if ever does the conscious mind know that these parts of us are there. Both the mammalian Brain and the Reptilian Brain end up thinking and operating independantly of the frontal lobes.
Psychology and Psychonautics hinges upon how these three persons living in one head interact with each other (and how two of them hide from the third.) -

Re: Basic Brain Anatomy and 3 Selves
Wed, November 22, 2006 - 1:51 AMto be fair, you do say some prety inflamitory things, you realy can't be totaly suprised when you sudo-tacktfully say that everone elses way of looking for "god" is fundamentaly flawed.
a lot of what you say is crearly not ment to piss peaple off, but it still ends up sounding like the statments of an outsider looking in and trying to see the bad parts , then saying that (becals the bad parts are all you saw) that that way of being/searching is as a hole funamentaly flawed , "infiltrated" , misgiuded , limiting , limited, controling, ect, ect.
you can't be suprised that that mite bush a puton for some peaple. -

Re: Basic Brain Anatomy and 3 Selves
Wed, November 22, 2006 - 12:07 PMwell, back to the root problem. Civilization is flawed. People who rock the boat are rocking the boat. I can't do anything to fix the problem until tis defined. Yes, that rubs people the wrong way most of the time. No, theres not really any other way to go about it.
I'm not surprised, but when the staff of tribe side with the trolls, you know that theres no integrity there, and you wake up and you realize that being on tribe is again about warfare,
not open or nice or civil conversation.
It would be nice if tribe would implement rules based on logic and nvc to govern peoples communications. Unfortunately, they are troll freindly and unlucid. So i have to make a presentation keeping in mind that i have to push peoples buttons and fire off the first few rounds defensively.
its not the optimal way to do things. Blame tribe staff. -

Tue, December 5, 2006 - 3:42 PMi found this on a web site caled data church, and it reminded me of you promiethius. :)
plus thats a great site, lotsa neet refrences / resorses. it's a trip:)

Terrance McKenna theorizes that as the North African jungles receded toward the end of the most recent ice age, giving way to grasslands, a branch of our tree-dwelling primate ancestors left the branches and took up a life out in the open—following around herds of ungulates (cows), nibbling what they could along the way.
Among the new items in their diet were psilocybin-containing mushrooms growing in the dung of these ungulate herds. The changes caused by the introduction of this drug to the primate diet were many—McKenna theorizes, for instance, that synesthesia (the blurring of boundaries between the senses) caused by psilocybin led to the development of spoken language: the ability to form pictures in another person's mind through the use of vocal sounds.
About 12,000 years ago, further climate changes removed the mushroom from the human diet, resulting in a new set of profound changes in our species as we reverted to pre-mushroomed and brutal primate social structures that had been modified and/or repressed by frequent consumption of psilocybin. -

Re: Basic Brain Anatomy and 3 Selves
Tue, December 5, 2006 - 7:54 PMwow, kewl cartoon.
the idea here is that mushrooms had an impact on brain development because it allowed
the filters between brodmanns brain areas to be crossed, and for more intense inter brain area conversations to take place.

Tue, December 5, 2006 - 8:07 PMya, and that becals of the suden remooval of this cemical evelutionary catalist , society is funumentaly flawed.

Re: Basic Brain Anatomy and 3 Selves
Tue, December 5, 2006 - 8:10 PMthe sudden removal of that catalyst spawned the quest for drugs of all sorts; and the bad investments we have made in so many things that do not work like mushrooms does,
ie, cocaine, heroin, opiates, alcohol, tobacco, etc. -

Re: Basic Brain Anatomy and 3 Selves
Tue, December 5, 2006 - 8:41 PMactualy all of those things are great when they're used for the rite reasons and perpises.
it's just when they're abused or used with malicious ,selfish, or otherwise negative intent that they become a problem,
like religion or violence.
