looking for gear solutions...

I am looking for advice regarding a specific situation - I spin using a laptop and midi-controllers (a 32 key keyboard and an 8 channel midi-mixer), and when it's time for my set I have to squeeze my gear in around the CDJs - which always sucks as my gear is in constant danger of falling off the table. Plus the other DJ's get annoyed because I have to shove around their gear.
I'm sure I'm not the only person who has this problem. How have you solved this problem? What racks are worth using? Have you discovered any ingenious ways to get your gear up and out of the way?

A laptop stand would be a good start. The Stanton Uberstand looks promising www.stantondj.com/v2/prod_uber.asp. I haven't picked up a laptop stand yet, but I'll be looking for one soon. Quiklok also has all kinds of keyboard stands and such. Maybe you can find an articulating arm that can clamp to a table to hold you keyboard and mixer. Anything that brings your equipment up in the air just makes it look much cooler and adds to the "performance" aesthetic of DJing.

check out a company called "SPACETEK"

They're a little pricier than other brands but the build quality and design solutions are really good...... regarding your problem with space and other people's gear, they make one product that clips on to any table or extruding ledge, it's available for laptops and cdj's

If i was you dude, i'd look into the products available and then design my own..... you could tailor it to your specs. and probably have it made for a fraction of the cost

    : )
