PURE Day 2007

Saturday, July 14, is PURE Day 2007. This is the third anniversary of PURE and troupes will be performing in 10 cities across the country. Richmond PURE will be dancing at Maymont Park from 5 to 6 p.m. We will start at the Hampton Gate entrance and process to the Italian Gardens. From there, we will circle the mansion before ending in the grassy space near Hampton Gate.

We welcome members of the community and anyone interested in joining PURE.

New PURE photos

On Jan. 14, Richmond PURE took a field trip to Washington, DC to perform with our sister troupe, DC PURE, in a student tribal hafla. It was our first dual performance with another PURE troupe and it went very well. With an hour of practice, just before the show started, we merged the two groups almost flawlessly to perform together.

New bellydance troupe - PURE Richmond

Experienced bellydancers and musicians are invited to join Richmond's
Public Urban Ritual Experiment

What Is PURE?
Public Urban Ritual Experiment (PURE) is a collective of bellydancers, drummers and musicians who have come together to share their love of dance and music with the public to bring healing and peace. With branches around the country, PURE performances draw people together both emotionally and physically into a shared sense of the divine. As the community participates, no one is a stranger any longer.

What Does PURE Do?
PURE members perform several times a year for specific charities and causes. Dancers perform choreographed, ritual dances to live drummers and musicians, generally on sidewalks or in public spaces.

How Do I Become A Member Of PURE Richmond?
We will be accepting new members on September 21st and 28th
and on October 19th and 26th with more dates after the holidays.

Where And When Does PURE Meet?
Trinity Lutheran Church
2315 Parham Road
Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
