Hi everyone!

I have great news! I have an aerial arts instructor from Arizona who is willing to travel here to teach a workshop on aerial arts. For those of you who do not know what aerial arts are, think circus stuff like trapeze, bungee dancing, aerial hoop, or (my dream) aerial silks. An aerial art is anything done up in the air.

We are still in the planning stages, but it will probably be sometime in September or October, and I am estimating it will be in the $150 range. Expensive, I know, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it is still cheaper than going to Chicago to take a workshop at the Aloft Loft (which I still plan on doing someday! lol)

Before I go too far in planning this, I need to know it will be supported. So if you are SURE you want to do this (i.e. you will definitely be there as long as the date does not conflict with a previously arranged engagement), please email me. I will then put you on an informational email list, and will send you a list of exercises to do on a pull-up bar, so that when the workshop comes, you have some strength developed to do the tricks. The instructor recommends putting the pullup bar in a doorway you pass by often, and everytime you go by it to do a pull up or two.

The instructor does not yet have a website for her Arizona classes, but here is her myspace page:
profile.myspace.com/index.cfm

Hope to hear from you!

Natasha :-D

I'll reply here as well. Assuming I suffer no paralysis before this happens I am a definite! Let me know how early you will need the workshop fee as soon as you find out. I'm also interested in going to Chicago if a trip is ever in the works.

    Thank you Natasha!

    Is that 150 per person?

      yup.

what you are paying for: round trip airfare from arizona, studio rental fees, rigging shipment, very small class sizes, professional aerialist.

the same thing in chicago costs $120, and they dont have to pay for airfare, transportation, or studio rental.

Good Gaia, now THIS sounds like fun!!! If it ends up being in Sept I'd be way interested, Natasha.....all of Sept is open right now 'cept the evenng of the 15th SFT has a gig. I do need to know a 'bit' ahead of time to swich my work schedule around.

My wife n' I are going to a three week long workshop in Vermont on handbuilding acoustic guitars in October....we like 'different' type vacations! So, no Oct for me, but if Oct ends up being the best date, i understand completely.....this must be a LOT to organize.

How long would the workshop be, do you think? Our friend, Kim from Seatle used to travel with the band, Boombox and she performed with the long silks hanging from the celing.......it was SO beautiful and amazing to watch! Even if I was terrible, as you said, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, how exciting!

Thank you Natasha for working on making this happen!
