I'd love to see this become an active site, and in doing so it means we continue to share our knowledge insight and inspiration. I'm curious as to the things that have brought you to the next stage of your performance. This feels strange to me, since for my career my shadow has always been my teacher, and the occasional firespinner that I would come across...but I'm curious as to whats out there. There were lots of conversations of all our virtual teachers/inspirations.SO... What performance videos do you pay homage to, what websites inspire you, Who are those people (like Meg) that you could say brought you to the level where you are at...Give props to your teachers, and may we continue to learn from eachother.

Well.....you yourself inspired a bit of off the ground work....

but for me Ben-ja-men...got my contact staff spinnin started with his bang bang video.
then a few years later meg made her site. Then a few years after that she came to sf....which was sick, but i don't wanna be blow MCP's head up.....

Poi wise, matt terry from www.sphereculism.org (that link might be wrong) got me started, I love that undercover hippie with glasses even though I've never met him. IN the bay I definetly learned a ton from Dan (under leg stuff)and Ro (different doubles) from LSD Fuego, Andreas (how to manage a class), and Roger Lai (how to become the next poifather.)

But i feel like I am always inspired by so many people I am in contact with jus in the bay area alone, learning, like with dave (my contact -brother) , zan (those wrap up opposite behind the back things) , aurora (jumpin), aileen (extension), greg (CJ grace), Bliss (lovly belly dancin action), Memory (powerful female spinner), Ian (Dance), Poky (clean clowining type poi) , Bryce (gym-nasty action) , Keith BArefoot (never met him but see him a lot) , Rif (dude, jumping in those twisters by the man) Ryhmo (stall wrap thing) Icon (butterfly hyperloop and inversion) , just to name a few......

I've never had a steady teacher I usually sit back and watch if I am not teaching, talking mental pictures of everything. .....next year I hope to be at pyronauts camp more....

    whose next...?

I'm with Noel on this one... I learn from myself through the influence of others. Videos definitely aid in inspiration when meeting with others isn't possible, and for that I go to tribe (Fire Videoz tribe), home of poi (Videos forum), spherculism, and a few others.

This is simply for technical improvement is concerned, as far as being a better performer, I can't really say because I'm a terrible performer :) People like Keith and you, Aurora, have helped me realize that looking like you're having a good time (which you hopefully are) and making eye contact go a long way.

I think a great way of getting better is to post a video online and request constructive criticism, and take it seriously... it helped me a lot the last time I posted a video (which was far, far too long ago). I highly suggest it... not just because I want to see you all spinning some more.

I really love you folks. To know what it is that makes us performers, and what technicality makes us different from eachother to help eachother grow in whats out there and what world we can be in. Hmmmm I really like the video critique idea. Soon come.
        til then,
        ever,

my biggest inspiration so far have been Forrest and Dave clay, dave practically made me learn to throw my poi, and forrest is just endless inspiration and showed me waistwraps, Vatra has always blew my mind with how big his freaking poi are and the style and grace he shows while spinning such massive fire, mad respect to everyone I met at burning man and camped with this year, you all inspire me to be that much crazier every time I spin.
