Our minds have an interesting cyclical rut built into them. In Cognitive Behavior Therapy this is known as the "ABC's" which stands for: Action, Beliefs, Consequences. Something happens to us..., an action, we form a belief about that action within the templates of how we classify things in our lives. We react to that belief and cause a consequence. This maybe just another emotional release which causes another action! And the beat goes on.
We can however, start noticing our pattern of these ABC's and start changing things. I mentioned a "template." This template is a belief model that we use to categorize events. If we have no frame/template of reference for an event, we find ourselves confused. Change how that template is acted upon. And how beliefs/reference experiences are attached to that frame of reference/template and you thereby change your reactions and your life accordingly. This is being cognitive of the ABC behavior process within you.
And it doesn't take large changes to make a difference. It's the small changes that have the widest reaching effect. Take for example, the next time someone cuts you off in traffic, try reacting in a way that you've never acted before. Something very positive and self-edifying. Once you've patterned this into your frame of reference/template, start changing other reactions little by little. Suddenly, you'll notice that an entire panorama will open and you'll see the world in a completely new way.
Continue this process little by little and bit by bit and you'll wind up becoming the person that you've always admired!
How cool is that?
Across whatever distance, I send my love,
